DUBAI — French President Jacques Chirac’s comments about bad British food have proved unappetising to the British community.

Many Britons residing here have criticised Chirac’s comments. According to Liberation newpaper, Chirac cracked jokes to Vladimir Putin and Gerhard Schroeder at the expense of British food. “After Finland, it’s the country with the worst food,” he is reported to have said.
A spokesperson for Tony Blair said: “Some things are best not commented on.” Restaurant magazine recently revealed top 50 restaurants in the world. Number one went to the Fat Duck in UK.

Just 24 hours before today's 117th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session, French newspaper Liberation quoted Chirac as saying, "One cannot trust people whose cuisine is so bad. The only thing they have ever done for European agriculture is mad cow disease."

Comments:

"We might not have great food to French standards, but at least English women shave their armpits!" wrote Joby Read of Cambridgeshire.

Trust someone to mention the War: Peter Emsley from Canada wrote: "Someone should remind Chirac that if it were not for the fish and chip mob from Britain, he would be eating sauerkraut now, not frogs legs."
