Using Mobile whilst driving, are you guilty???

This Week in the UK new laws have been introduced where If you get caught holding a mobile when driving you get an on the spot fine of £30. I I must admit im guily of it and texting too. Its just so easy to do when youre stuck in traffic. My phone rang tonite on my way home from work and I didnt answer it guess il have to get into the habit of doing that.

Anyone else guitly of doing it?? Are there laws against it in your country??

I don't do it often, but yeah once or twice. Every now and then, the police will launch a safety blitz and target people using their cell phones.

It's illegal in NY but I do it all the time. I figure the chances that a cop is actually going to catch me are slim. Doesn't seem like many other people care either since half the people you see on the road are on their phones.

So? No offense but because half the people jump off the cliff you jump too? And you shouldn't consider the chances that a cop could catch you, but the increased probability of you getting, or even causing, an accident.
And we're all aware people don't just do it while stuck in traffic jams.

my friend was knocked off his bike but some prick in a suit answering his phone so im kinda aginst it...he was fine but my ****ing bike wasnt!

No I wouldn't jump off a cliff because that is dangerous. I don't use my phone in certain conditions where I feel my driving might be impaired by it. But if I need to and I feel comfortable doing so, yeah I'm going to use it. What about people who drink (not alcohol but coffee, etc.) while they drive? That is equally distracting but it's is anyone making laws against that?

Phoning while driving is dangerous too, and not like the jumping off the cliff, it's not just dangerous for yourself but also for others. And other than in traffic jams, when is your driving not impaired by it?

It is another useless risk taken, yes, even if phoning drags your attention even more off the road. It's just sad people need these sort of laws because they just can't act responsible by themselves.

If I am driving safely, how is it a danger to others? I know how I drive, and I know that in most situations I drive just as well while using my phone as I do when I'm not. Like I said, I wouldn't do it if I didn't think it was safe.

Cell phones are distractions are the the second leading cause of automobile accidents in the U.S... I would never do that. It's a hazard to not only my safety, but others around.

If you can drive with the same attention to your driving when you phone and when you don't, you should turn yourself in to any scientific research lab, they'll have loads of fun tests for you because you'd be a unique specimen.
I really hope nothing happens to you, but you are making the risks higher.
