I'm waiting on Revenge Of The Sith from the library. Seems like I've been 2 out of 19 in line forever.

I recently read the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy books. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. The first one is the best, but the one that starts with Arthur Dent stranded on prehistoric earth is incredibly funny too. Two more really funny books (funny coincidence, but despite both having religious sounding titles, only one is about religion) are When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops by George Carlin, and Lamb:The Gospel According To Biff (don't know who wrote it). Lamb is funny but it can be really touching too.

I must also recommend Dumbing Us Down and The Underground History Of American Education by multi-time NY Teacher Of The Year Award winning author and teacher John Taylor Gatto. Two absolutely indispensible books.

I've recommended it before, but Unintended Consequences by John Ross is so good it deserves a second recommendation. Definitely a book for adults though.

The Bell Jar is such a great book, isn't it? Have you read her other writings too? I haven't My boyfriend is a "fan" of hers and maybe when I stay with him in August I'll get a chance to browse through her Diaries and perhaps read them. I'm just not sure they're really my kind of thing. Let me know how you like them

Haha, I told you about P&P!! Now there's a film coming soon too

I think you will like Middlesex. I loved that book. It's absolutely fantastic.

Me, I'm currently reading Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. I'm only a few chapers in, but so far so good Before that I was reading Private Papers by Margaret Forster. I love Margaret Forster and her way of writing

(PS. Shouldn't we have some sort of 'Last book you read' thread like those about films and CDs in other forums? What do you think?)

you should check out the last godfather russ. not exactly a serial killer, though he did bump off a handful of people in his time. Probably more attractive to me because most of it was in Glasgow but there's parts of his dealings with the Krays and the London mobs in the 60s and 70s.

Just got a new book about Lovecraft by a Frenchman, Michel Houellebecq.
The book's called "H.P. LOVECRAFT:AGAINST THE WORLD, AGAINST LIFE". What a contrast to the patronising crap we are used to reading about Lovecraft in the 'serious' press!

Ukjovi:If you like books on serial killers, I recommend Darkness, Take My Hand by Dennis Lehane. It's fiction, but it's still excellent. Prayers For Rain (also by Lehane) is better, but in a different way.
