Though I'm not attracted to men myself I can't say I'm too bothered about other people being, it doesn't really bother me, if 2 people want to be together it shouldn't matter what gender they are.

I think that some people are probably born "different" in a way that makes them attracted to the same sex, I'm not sure about the smell thing that Adrian mentioned, but I did also hear about how it can be something that a person is born with.

Officially, homosexuality is a perversion (definition = an aberrant sexual pratice), and homosexual are perverts. That's a psychiatric technical term defined by Freud. It's not meant to have any negative connotation, to be an insult or to open the door to judgemental crap. That's just how too many people use the word.

About what causes homosexuals to be so... I'd say the same that causes us to be either left or right handed really... A result of all the interactions between our nurture and our congenital part. Something we shouldn't try to interfere in.

i have a gay friend, she only mentioned it in passing last year and i was like ''oh, right'' and thot nothing more of it, quite often forget she is too. Also knew a gay guy back in school, nice quiet chap and he was totally fine and i got on well with. bit odd lol but was sound.

But i have, on more than one ocasion, been unfortunate enough to meet the total poofs who really do seem to set out to irriate the shit outta you and proclaim to the world that they are gay.. im fine with gay people aslong as they act decently and normal about it - but these guys are openly as camp as a field of pink tents, walk like fruits, talk twice as loud as everyone around them in a really, well, gay voice, and generally act like total idiots.

I really resist the urge sometimes to just go over and directly ask them why the hell they feel they hafta act the whole overly gay part out, are they trying to prove something? Sure everyone has the right to express themselves, but it really bugs me when these people try to make some kind of in-your-face statement of declareation that they are gay. so what? you can be gay and not be a total idiot about it.

rant over.

So what you are saying is that you are ok with gays as long as they act straight? Kind of like the people that claim they have no prejudice against other cultures/races as long as they act white. Very open minded, indeed *rolls eyes*

Have you ever stopped to think that the way YOU act may seem rather strange and bizarre to others and that they may think you are just trying to irriate them or are incredibly inhibited? Maybe someone will observe you in a nightclub or bar and think to themselves whether or not they should go over and ask you why you feel the need to act like a complete idiot.

After all, YOU are not making the rules as to what is appropriate/cool/normal behavior and who is a poof and who is an idiot. It's all in the eye of the beholder

Why? Because their behavior makes YOU uncomfortable? Tough shit for you!

Lot's of people's behavior makes me uncomfortable - most of them are straight and white. I never hear anybody draw attention to their whiteness and straightness and how unbelievably annoying straight guys are (which a lot of them are). It's called prejudice and it comes in lots of different shades and colors.

However, what annoys me just as much as homophobia is that a lot of people think they 'need' a gay friend to lead a politically correct life. It seems that everybody has a 'token' gay friend - how embarrassing for the gay friend. Every few months there is a group of us women and we meet for dinner and a movie - every once in a while the topic comes up that we need a gay male in our group. Somehow that would make the circle complete - gag - or, maybe they view a gay person as more of an entertainment factor. The conversations never end well

nope. not what i meant. A gay male doesnt have to start acting like a girl does he, put on a feminine voice and prance about like a fool does he? hes not born like that, its something they end up doing. I merely said that this irritates me, much like many other things do. Whether its idiots fooling about at a gig and pushing, shoving and heckling the band, or steeks/chavs throwing bottles at my car etc etc

ha. you dont even know me, i can assure you that this would not happen. unless i did something completely out of character.

Indeed, never said i was so keep your pants on. And its my eye coz im the beholder, my personal view. Some things annoy me, and i have a right to say that they do. Not going into a debate about homosexuality, just that this aspect annoys me.

Yes, lots of ppls behavious makes me uncomforatble too like i said, and this is one of them. 99% of the people whom i consider assholes at uni annoy me with their behaviour, so are you going to contradict yourself and tell me im wrong? im merely saying that certain types of gay people annoy me, just like certain types of girls annoy me etc etc

agree here. Political correctness gone mad. read in the paper today about how the UK police force, white males are being turned down for recruitment even though they are scoring higher than the other minorities of applicants such as gay/ethnic/women.

an i am not against all gays because they are gay. but i hate the fact you get over the top gays that as soon as they come out as a gay they change the way they talk and walk.(not all but some)
but i do like some gays for the thing they are good at like.
like freddie murcury - one of my fav singers but him being gay wone make me not like him.
matt lucas - total funny not going to stop liking him.
and i cold name more but cant be bothered.

but one thing i hate is the fact people like me who dislike gays get called 'homophobics'.
anyone else agree that that is a bad term?
i mean 'phobe' is a fear like arachnaphobe(sp?) is a fear of spiders.
i am not afraid of gays i juts dont agree with it and find it sick.

this is all IMO but i know there will be others like me here.

that;s kind aakin to saying i don't like black folk but prince is cool and muhammed ali is ok so don't call me racist....

First of all....you need to put "

" over each quoted section to make it readable.

2nd of all, what you're not getting is the flamboyant types ARE born that way. It's not an act. Check out Paul Stanley. Even when he's not prancing on stage, he's still quite feminine. But he embraces what is hardwired into him rather than living in shame. You should also consider that being feminine does not neccessarily equal being gay. Their mannerisms makes them a target for beatings and derision...so does it really make sense to "act" that way? They are simply being themselves.
