sounds like your lazer needs cleaned. happens if your cd's are dirty or dusty. as they said, get a cleaner and it should do the trick.

a what, I DIDNT KNOW THEY EXISTED. I remember cleaning tapes, but in the end thought everyone thought they were rubbish and made your tape deck worse.

R u joking about the cleaning cd ?

Dawn
You can get them for about a tenner from HMV/wollies/Smiths. As I said though, they only work for so long before the problems happens again.
Interesting, would a dirty cd player be unable to actually read that discs are not even in the player ? I put a cd in the player and the player says there isnt one in there !!!!!!!

Rusty , I SMEAR IT IN CHIPS remember chiplips x

Dawn
HOw could i forget Chiplips :P xx

I've had my JVC stereo for about 5-6 years and nothing has been wrong with it. Had a Sony before that for about 8-9 years. My Sony discman has also worked fine for about 5-6 years

Sorry about your bad luck with the CD players Dawn

you're very unlucky with cd-players! I bought my first cd-player about 10 years ago, after 5 years I wanted some more advanced soundsystem and passed my old cd-player on to my brother... He gave it to one of the kids in the neighbourhood when he got fed up with it. As far as I know, it still works after 10 years .

Default keeping cdrs safe

if you are using cdrs (not normal cds) for playing your favourite records, please note cdrs were given a lifespan of 5 to 10 years (the only way to store crds is by storing them sideways not flat on top of each other,
Cdrs should also be used on average playing time of 5 hours before cleaning the laser drive with a recognised proprietory cleaner.
Guess you have been exceedingly unlucky unless your player has been played 24 /7

Thankyou fro your advice, I am not talking about cdrs, just normal cd. I know sometimes I have had trouble with players reading cdrs. Im just talking about normal cds and no they havent been played 24/7 .

However my daughter does dance and Im now wondering if this could have caused a problem, we havent noticed any jumping etc , but maybe this is it.

Need to work out what it is dont want to keep buying these machines for the same thing to happen, otherwise Im wasting money.

Dawn
