...no I don't think of it as pleeing to god...frankly, i don't really think of it having anything to do with god. It's just a natural thing for me to say.

Is it similar to sportsmen who say 'I'd like to thank God for this award...........' I don't think they mean 'God is on my side', I think it is more thanking God for giving them the opportunity and talent to achieve whatever it is they have just done. Just my view anyway.

I disagree. If every country were 'blessed' equally then it would seem odd that one of these countries would feel the need to proclaim all of the time that they themselves were blessed, because so is everyone else. The fact that Americans feel the need to say God Bless America at every available opportunity suggests that they think that maybe they are the only ones that are.

'God Bless America' isn't just a casual phrase that people occasionally use, it is almost a national motto.

This is a difficult question for me to answer( considering my graps of english is not perfect and I might not know all the signification behing the expression...)

My first instinct would be to say USA use the "god bless" sentence way to much, so that is not a coincidence. Here, i would say exactly the same as:

On the other hand, the national anthem of Canada say, in one sentence, :"God keep our land glorious and free!" This might be used to say that USA is not the only country using a prayer to God. But that's only the english version: the french version, the first one to be written, does not mention God. Also, I have to say, here, that Canada does not end every adress to the nation with the God Bless sentence. So here i think I can say that Canada is not a nation using the "god bless" sentence like the USA.
( Can people think of other country that are using the "God bless sentence"? I know there's the God bless the Queen in England... if everybody use it, then why would USA think they're superior if they also use it...)

Considering they are the only one nation( in my knowledge) using the "god bless" so much, is this a proof that the USA are using the sentence to say they are superior?
That is any easy & hard argument to make at the same time. You can either say: a) since USA use it so much, and almost only they use it that much, that this mean that they think it apply only to them. i.e. that they think they are more "loved" by God then other nation.
OR b) other country are using similar sentence, its just a prayer, the word itself are not implying that the USA is superior, they are using this in rough time to help the american people survive( i.e. sept 11)...

I can be convice by both argument ( i think only the circumstance, i.e. moment, of the utilisation of this sentence can trutly tell what USA think when teyr are using hte words)...what about you?
