What is the most you would pay for a concert ticket?

The whole Police reunion gossip got me wondering.

I've paid £75 ($145) +fees twice, It was definitely easier the second time, but I felt a little cheated.

First time round, Simon & Garfunkel was a once-in-a-lifetime type affair, to date the best concert I ever saw.

Then last year, Brian Wilson asked an astonishing amount for the last performance of Pet Sounds in London. I just can't resist Brian Wilson shows, his band are among the greatest musicians in the world, but there was a definite sense of being milked.

A case of a smallish number of fans being extremely devoted, rather than a massive demand for tickets.

Anyway, the Police, I'd want a good seat or GC standing and would probably go higher, £85, possibly, £100 probably not....

Not an exciting thread, but puts off doing actual work for a little while.

For a lineup of my fave bands, at a one off gig, I would pay silly money. Even if I had to stay in for the nxt 3 months to pay for it Id do it. Its all relative really, whereas some of my friends would spend £100 on a pair of shoes or handbag, this is my luxury.

The most i've paid was £87 for what I thought was BJ at Wembley and tbh I would have paid the touts had I not got a ticket.

I think last years BJ gig at Milton keynes is about as high as i'd go .Much more then its just not worth it

Yeah the MK night 2 gig was the most I've payed for a concert. It was around the £450 mark for tickets, travel and 'backstage' entry. Well worth it though, best day of my life!

For BJ at Giants or BJ at Wembley I'd probably pay around £150 face value, but no more than that. Although like Carli says, if it was a line up of all my fave artists then I would make exceptions, but for one artist, I dont think it is worth more than £150 max.

Like you, to pay extreme prices, I would need some kind of "event", that couldn't be replicated.

You definitely go further than me, though, in valuing the premium of a special, large, venue at at £100.

Especially for Bon Jovi, who a) have played the same venue before for a fraction of the price and b) have made no significant advances in musical talent over the past ten years and c) are less famous than they were.

The very size of venues like Wembley and Giants makes for a large supply of tickets and opportunities to profit. Surely this would mean each individual needs to pay LESS of a premium for it to be worth the band's while to get out of bed. I doubt the running costs of a 70,000 capacity show are 7 times larger than a show for 10,000 people.

For one of the old Christmas shows in a small theatre somewhere, though.....

most i've paid for a one off wshow was about £80 for u2 and it wasn't worth it

ont he other hand T in the park has gone from £70 all in the 1st year i went for the weekend to working out at about £135 now when you add on fee's, then you've got your bus ticket, camping gear etc... etc... plus you';ve got to go there and spend a fortune on beer and food while watching bands that you'#ve most likely seen before anyways. it can and does easilly run you over £200 for the weekend if not getting close to £300.

unless they pull off something spectacular (like the police) which they won't, i won't be going back anytime soon.

it's a shame because it is a really cool weekend away but every year the ssecurity gets worse, the food gets more expensive, the toilets get dirtier, the bands get worse (or are the same) etc... and year by year you can really see how they're ripping it because they know people will pay it regardless.

i spent less over new year in berlin that i did camping at t in the park this year :-S

I paid 120 euros for Bruce Springsteen and I think that would be my max, but it would depend how much I wanted to see someone.

...it depends on the show and where it is...I'd love to see the Stones, Elton John and Madonna but I will not pay the prices they ask!...Bj tix have always been ok in the past (except MK) they was havin' a laff!
I'd pay silly prices to see BJ in unusual enviroments...and travel silly distances too...It's always been worth it...especially so, because of the other friendly nutters you meet on the way!
