I'm a psychometrist. I give individualized psychological tests and work in a school system. It's exactly what I studied to do in college and I really love it. I had planned on going into counseling but the more counseling classes I took, the more I decided it was a bunch of manure. I like studying the mind and trying to figure out what's wrong, but I have no desire to try to "fix" anyone. LOL I'm not that into lost causes.

It's hard to say if I'd do anything differently. My professors in undgrad all encouraged me to go to an Ivy League graduate school, but they're aren't any in Mississippi. At the time my great aunt was sick (and I was her primary care giver) and my dad had just gotten diagnosed with diabetes and I felt like if I moved away I would miss too much time with them and that they needed me here. Given that they both died a few years after I got my degree, I was right in thinking that. At the same time, it's harder now to pick up and move to finish my Ph.D. because I *do* have a job and all the benefits that come with it. So, I don't know.... I'd like to have the credentials to do the neuropsychophsysiological testing, but I can't get that anywhere close to home and I'm not sure it's really worth the time and upheaval when my job isn't the greatest priority in my life.

It's weird because I love what I do, but it's not my main focus. I'm much more family-oriented. If I could be anything at all, I'd be a mother and a full time writer.

Becky

I agree with that .... money is necessary but its not everything .. like keeper said it's so good to do things just for the sake of it ... just because .. not for the money but for the thrill ....

Becky I can see you as a writer so well .... it's great to have goals or dreams ...I admire people who have dreams

While studying good old accounting, I'm a contract bartender/waiter/host depending on where I work. Anywhere from TelstraDome, Crown Casino, to the Hilton, the Grand Hyatt International, to small business functions.

It's pretty good work, its just a pain that it takes me over an hour to get to any of the joints because I'm 30 k's east of Melbourne.

I am a Resturant Manager here in the USA. I am second in command so to speak and we serve Pizza and Subs and all kinds of good stuff. LOL I work my tail off 50 hours a week roughly and Make decent money, Plus benefits and Bonuses and such if our sales are up or down depending on our intake.

Nothing more to tell.

I'm a nurse. I did not initially study to be one - first job I had out of school was a clerical officer in a large department store here. Did that right up until I left to have my first child...then became a stay at home mum for the next 9 years to my 3 daughters. At 32, I decided to pursue something I'd long held, and went into a 3 year nursing course. For the past 13 years I've worked in a large aged care complex - the short version of my role there is clinical nursing along with a large amount of time spent attending to the paperwork that the Government requires for us to obtain funding.
Do I like my job....to be prefectly honest, at the moment - no. Aged care nursing is very sadly overlooked a lot, and there is nowhere near enough credit given to those of us who practise in that area - wages are poor [as an example, my s-i-l works for the government, sitting behind a desk and gets nearly $7/hr. more than I do - guess that makes me the silly one eh?!!], the hours are very long and we have increasing difficulties finding staff - increasingly, nurses are leaving public/private hospitals and going to work for nursing agencies where the hourly rate is WAY better and they don't have to deal with the infernal internal politics [nursing, for all it's denial of this, is VERY political]
One of these days, I might get rid of the writers block, and actually finish the book and script I've started - like Becky, I've always wanted to be a writer.
