Would this be an invitation to delve into ones Theologically based theories as to why God exists and why there is an afterlife in my opinion? - That'd be great because I find it a very interesting and captivating subject; however having said that though, you haven't really made an attempt to answer the riddle Thomas!

Surely the answer is heaven

Maybe its the lobby type area where people are seen by Saint Peter before gaining admittance through the pearly gates???

But then it'd be the door before the reception that is before heaven

Maybe Heaven is part of some astral plain county like Clanton, Mississippi is part of the Ford county (sorry, reading John Grisham like 10 mins ago), in which case the door that lies one door away from heaven would be the main gates to this Astral county that houses and subsidises Heaven.
