Well, firstly, I cant honestly say what is available in your area. Thats what you must find out first. I personally use Telewest (Blueyonder). I am on a 2mb (4 times the speed of normal 512k broadband) connection and pay £35 a month. I get 30mb of webspace with that and upto 15 email addresses. I can upgrade to a 4mb connection for £50.

No russ. All I need to do is open Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to access the internet. I dont get a homepage like the one AOL uses. I hated that when I used AOL. Its much easier when it is connected to the internet all of the time, rather than connecting to broadband.

Other providers offer similar deals for slightly cheaper prices, but most offer download restrictions which is not what I am after.

You are joking?

Below is just one example which could save you £150 a year.

It depends on what you use it for Russ, if it's just at home for web browsing then a 512k for about £15 would probably be enough.

We are with Tiscali for £16 512k I think, and whereas they don't impose a download limit there is fair use thing in the tos that is around 30gb per month I think. I haven't had much trouble with them for the past year, once early last year it went down for a weekend but that was it.

I don't know what email and such they offer since I've never bothered to look, but it is a reasonably priced and reliable service.

Not joking no. Thats a good deal, if you have a BT phone line. For example, we don't, therefore we cant have Bulldog broadband. As I was saying, some services arent available in some areas, and there are catches such as this one you mentioned. Sounds good though, if we were with BT.

Well i'm not in Uk so i can't tell much but Russ you know ISP etc is my work since a bit of time, and i heard many times AOL is completely different or "special" from the others so maybe you should wait a bit of time to see if you really don't like your new provider. They all will be different from AOL. So maybe just with a bit of time .....

Now if you want, test your line (phone number) on providers' sites or find a site where you test your number and it will tell you all offers you can have (available in your area or not) and from which provider, this is totally objective so no advert or anything to influence you. Here i use degrouptest.com but you must have some for the UK !!

What is it so bad with this one in fatc ?

Isn't it just because you're not used to it ?

The home page you can change it

As for the speed depends of what you want to do ... Downloading movies ? or just chatting ?

But first you should create a hotmail or gmail account (it's far better and bigger !!!) then you will never change of email address again, no matter which ISP you have, you'll still use the same address.

Well i don't know what you really don't like .....
