What to advice....??

what to advice to a person who wanna commite sucide??. I had this dilemma today as suddenly one of friend told me that she may commite sucide today.... cause of various reason and having lot of problem with parents regarding her love life... I just didn't know what to say or to give advice.. not sure whether she is serious or just feeling that way (i hope that is the reason). Anyway i try make her reason.. but she is not ready to listen... now i'm worried... Hopefuly she is alright

eek... that's a complicated situation... though usually who tells other people they'll commit suicide rarely do. maybe make sure she's not alone, call her asking if she's ok...

That's a hard one I have heard that people that talk about suicide really want an intolerable situation (to them) to stop. We all get down and depressed sometimes but someone thinking about suicide probably needs someone to talk to to sort out what the problem really is.

At the least, some support would help - can you e-mail or message her if you can't call her?

most people who say they are going to commit suicide dont , its a cry for help. Over here we have the samaritans, there are websites and support groups available that can help support her but I dont know what would be availble where u are , try to find some help for her.

a suicide threat should always be taken seriously, they may not go ahead with the idea straight after theyve spoke to you but theres always tomorrow, or the day after or a few months down the line.

i dont know what the best way to handle a situation like this would be but its so important to let them know that theyre not crazy or weak or anything negative in that respect. everyone has a different pain threshold and the pain she's feeling has just exceeded her ability to cope with it. they are not a bad person and its vital that they realise that.

maybe ask her how long shes been feeling the way she has been. she mightve been thinking about it for a very long time but even so ask her to wait a day or something to re- evaluate things. she spoke to you about it, so shes not acting on her suicide impulses at that moment and thats a good start.

the way i see it is that all these feelings are just that- *feelings* good or bad. the pain is just a feeling, the relief from it is just a feeling. she possibly doesnt want to die, only just to find some relief. if youre not alive you can never feel that relief anymore.

i dont know what the best thing she needs would be, but i know having someone who will just listen to her will go such a long way. it doesnt matter if she is crying for attention- sometimes we need that attention and it isnt a bad thing.

First you should tell her that no parent can tell a child who or who they cant love . It just wont work .Can she not run away with her love?
