Default What will Britain do about Blair? ;)

I am just curious to know what the English plan on doing about the fact that their Prime Minister, Tony Blair, lied to them about the reasons for going to war with Iraq. He supported Bush throughout this entire thing, even though the majority of the people in England were against him. I don't know how the English political system works, but are there any plans to remove him from office anytime soon?

I ask this because a lot of people ask the citizens of the US how we can let Bush stay in office after he so blatantly lied to us. Yet, Blair did the same thing, so I am sure the English are not very happy with him either.

yeah i hope both of them will be removed, bush and blair.
i simply don't know what's going to happen, but i think there aren't too many people supporting blair anymore... but i also do not know enough about british politics.

general questions to all other people from other countries: what do you think would happen in your country with somebody like bush or blair?

we have a totally different system here, a system that makes it impossible for the politicians to go to a war or somthing like that, if the majority of the people does not support it... so i can't say what happens in such a case.

oh, and our constitution doesn't allow us to participate in any war unless we've been attacked (so we haven't been involved in any war since about 200 years i think). another reason why i can't say what would happen here when somebody leads us to a war for faked reasons.

Here is one poll that I read.

Half of Britons want Blair to quit, says poll

February 07 2004 at 01:18PM

London - Just over half of Britons think Prime Minister Tony Blair should resign and 54 percent believe he lied to the nation about the threat from Iraq, a new poll showed on Saturday.

Fifty-one percent of those questioned by polling firm NOP for the anti-war Independent newspaper said they agreed or strongly agreed that "it is now time for Tony Blair to resign and hand over to someone else." Thirty-five percent disagreed or strongly disagreed.

The survey also found 54 percent believed Blair had lied about the prewar threat from Iraq, while 31 percent did not.

Quote:
Tony Blair and George Bush have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for waging war on Saddam Hussein.
The pair have been put forward by a Norwegian politician who said toppling the Iraqi dictator had reduced the threat of weapons of mass destruction.

Anti-war campaigners condemned the move as "completely unbelievable" and said it made a mockery of the prize.

Other nominees for the award include the European Union and the Pope.

The winner will be announced by the five-member Norwegian awards committee on 10 December.

Andrew Burgin, of the Stop the War Coalition, said: "This is completely unbelievable. It shows the stupidity of this peace prize that it is given to people for starting wars rather than stopping them."

whether you support this war or not, this is just too much.

oh yeah, and the pope is nominated every second year!

Really? I thought Mike had mentioned that at one point or another. Sorry about that then. According to recent polls though, seems you guys want him out. Will he be forced out in the end?

And no, he wont be 'forced' out, although he might lose the next election depending on the conservative manifesto, you see over here we actually care about manifestos and such like, we dont just vote a certain way because of where we live / who we like (mostly.)
