That's brilliant Tash yes

I've had the penguin book ready to read for 1 year now - ever since i first took the train down to university last October... still not past the first 30 pages i read during that journey though (3 hours journey - averaging 10 pages every hour - short concentration span me )

I must read it again though

"Philosophy doesn't do the washing up"
"Bit of a cock-up on the ________ front "

"I didn't get where i am today by....... "

CJ is funny

reminds me - Porridge was superb also

as for "on the buses" - my dad had a few things to say about that and how it was 'trash' or something, and greasy humour

brought up on comedy i was.... what went wrong?

the Royle Family let's not forget

I was in Whythenshaw today (even if i can't spell it might be an e on the end) and it's not the nicest place. My sister is just working there for 2 days in a battered wives home, but it's a very funny area...

just realised how Mancunian i am also (yet no accent - ditto with my dad) - but he was born in ancoats, grew up in gorton, then lived in hyde, then denton... mum... clayton, droylsden, hyde, denton... gran manchester manchester manchster () - granddad the same even though 1/2 Welsh

and so i'm near 100% from Manchester - but born in Stockport

sorry i'm probably the only one that finds ANY of this funny but perhaps if you know the area or live here you might also

The Royal family was great. In a way im glad they only made 3 series cos every episode was a classic. Was watching a repeat on UK gold last night, I think the secret of its success is theres no canned/audiance laughter in the background.

well i know for sure for my mum's friend the humour is that she can relate to it. She grew up in Whythenshaw and in Jim sees her Dad i think

but for many people of my parent's generation who grew up in Manchester it is quite an accurate depiction of their parents and grandparents, and neighbours

Agreed its definately Northern Humour!!! I work in a Council Housing Office and you wouldnt believe the amount of "Royal families" ive dealt with. I think thats why i find it funny cos i can relate to it.

Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about???

Could be "No place like home"?

Yeah? At least from the name, it could be that... What was it like then?
