Default Who loves Elvis?

In honor of the King... who here is an Elvis fan?

I LOVE Elvis. He was my first rock and roll idol. When I was a preschooler I wanted to grow up to be Elvis! LOL He and Jon have the only two voices that make me melt. As a Mississippian, it makes me proud that he was from this state too.

ELVIS IS GOD.
Elvis is the only singer who can make me cry. When I listen to his music all different emotionals run through my body, from happiness to sadness. Beening only 24 years old my one regret is not beening alive and living in the US when he came on the scene. To go to one of those shows would have been awesome, and of course the first Vega's shows when he was at his peak would have been great as well. I think Jon is the only singer alive at the moment who can compare to Elvis for stage presence. Yesterday was a very sad day, but it's great that he will always be remembered and loved. Elvis has'nt died in my heart.

I do! I grew up with Elvis. My Mom used to listen to his music when I was a kid. And sometimes when my parents watched a movie that was not really made for 4, 5, 6 or 7 year olds (no, not that kind of movie...) I sat in the room next door, listening to Elvis on the headphones so I couldn't hear people screaming or whatever on TV. Sometimes I still give my Mom shit for giving me headphones instead of love.
Elvis really was my first musical experience and I still love his music/voice.
My favourite movie when I was probably around 8 was Fun in Acapulco. I think I watched it 10 million times. I have to admit that I still like Elvis movies because most of them are so sweet and naive. You just sing a little and get all the women...

I think the most often covered song gotta be "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". You know, axlash... the one by Bob Dylan...

Unfortunately the world only knows Elvis and other white guys´ achievements, but the black rock and roll roots nobody speaks about...

Elvis is great, his songs have so much meaning and its the only other singer that I can feel a bit teary listening to apart from Jovi.

My Dad/Uncle knew Elvis, they worked as stunt men on the film Apache(I think thats the title). It was Elvis early days in film. We got pics.
Dad used to have lunch with him on set. He said that Elvis never talked about beign Elvis and he was just and ordinary guy.

Aloha !

Well, I'm here to get you out of the dream. Elvis was fake to me. I mean, his biggest hits aren't his, and he couldn't play guitar so good. He even confessed it one time, he said to the crowd that he could only play three or four chords. Though I think you're right about the thing that he was just an ordinary guy...who took the wrong decisions. I mean his drugs period...But yes it's sad that he passed away so early.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Elvis might have sang other peoples songs, but he made the songs what they are. And the part where you said Elvis could'nt play guitar is completely wrong, he was actually very good and he was also very good on piano. That quote about knowing only a few chords was a joke. Every artist worth listening to, their influence is The King. Elvis had greatest voice ever and no one will ever come close to it.
