I grew up with Elvis, my father and his brothers used to play guitar, and i sang his songs before i began english at school, the teacher was upset, one day she said to my mother, she (me!)has an american accent, why ?
Elvis is everyday in my life and i think it's completely natural to continue with Bon Jovi !

Agreed, I personally never saw what all the hype was with him. I never was a fan of Elvis, music, movies or anything else.

I'm not what you could call an Elvis nut, but I really like a lot of his songs. Whether you like his music or not, you can't deny the fact that he was an amazing performer. Without performances like his, who knows where music would be today!!!

I agree with John Lennon. Before Elvis there was nothing.I like his music but I'n not an Elvis nut. The older women I work with absoluetly adore him and you should see their faces light up when they talk about him. There will NEVER be another Elvis.

I bought the #1 hits album when it came out. I like a lot of his songs and some I don't, but it was definately good to hear some of his famous hits again.

My mom got the 'That's the way it is' dvd which shows a compilation of performances in Las Vegas 1970. One of the best entertainers ever...

This week I saw footage of what I believe was his final show, June 1977 (2 months before his death). He had became 'pretty' fat and you could notice he just wanted to finish the show and leave as fast as possible. Sad it all had to end like this

I think all of us have some roots with Elvis tied into them. What made him great was that he took the risks to bring the black music into everyone's homes. Of those who think he was over-hyped, there would be none of the rock and roll today if he had not done so.

Anyone ever see the cut scene from Pulp Fiction where Vincent is waiting to take Mia out for dinner?

Well, she says to him that there can be Elvis people and Beatles people.... you can like both, but never to the same degree, one HAS to be the favourite! And I agree, Elvis blows the Beatles out of the damn water!!

While I do prefer his later music, Elvis Is King, no question.

I was brought up on Elvis music as my dad was a HUGE fan. Thats all I ever heard when I was growing up and I remember watching his movies too. Just after my dad died, I went to America and made a stop off in Memphis to see "Gracelands".
