Why do Americans......

Why do Americans think that because their ancestors are from another country (e.g. Ireland), then that makes themselves Irish.

Why does Jon think he is Italian?

It doesn't make them anything. They are American.

I was in a bar in Toronto last week and was talking to someone from the US. She told me she was actually English so I asked her where in England she had been. SHe told me she had never been to England; her grandparents were from there. What a &#000102ucking joke.

Just one question: What proves that they're American? Is there anything that's typical for America? Did they involve any traditions? That should've been hardly to realize in 500 years. The only native Americans are a minority.

They are born there, and have lived their all of their lives.

If we are getting into arguments about whether they are the original inhabitants or not, then can't we argue that about most countries in the world?

But what makes them different? I don't know if you get me wrong but what I'd like to know is what identity they should give themselfes if there's nothing in their life that is special.

I was born in England and have lived there for most of my life, therefore I am English.

People who are born in Canada and live there are Canadians.

People who are born in the US and live there are Americans.

As far as I am concerned it is simple.

If go far enough back in history you can say that all people are Africans (ok, this Peking thing isn't clear) but it's about that what hapened in the countries, what people there've done, invented, celebrated,...what people elsewhere don't do.

England has it's castels, it's fish'n chips (as stupid as these points are but they're the first ones I can think of) and so on. And for Canada? Well, the same as for the US. Maybe this wood business is unique for Canada.

The US was meant to be a melting pot. It is a recently discovered country you know, i presume you do, living there. So do you think people that have just arrived from say Afganistan are American? Cause thats what your saying! And the point is, places like Ireland have always had Irish people and they are the majority...... Native americans make up between 1 and 2 % of your country. Probably one of the reasons you cannot see the hatred from the east because your stuck so far up urself as an 'american'.. God Bless America..... frankly makes me sick. GOD BLESS THE EARTH! there is more than one country....... countries whether you like it or not UR FAMILY CAME FROM.
By the way I pressume you are aware that the country your so proud of has spent over 4 TRILLION DOLLARS on Nuclear weapons. Yeah, God Bless America, what a Godly place.

It doesn't matter if they have their traditions or not. The fact is that if someone is born in a country and lives there all their life, then that is their nationality.
