I was born in England and have lived there for most of my life, therefore I am English.

People who are born in Canada and live there are Canadians.

People who are born in the US and live there are Americans.

As far as I am concerned it is simple.

England has it's castels, it's fish'n chips (as stupid as these points are but they're the first ones I can think of) and so on. And for Canada? Well, the same as for the US.
It doesn't matter if they have their traditions or not. The fact is that if someone is born in a country and lives there all their life, then that is their nationality.
