Not much of a choice this election year.
I agree. We've got no good choices this time. I really don't like Bush and I don't like the things that have happened during his presidency. I just can't get into Kerry though. He doesn't seem to be any better. This is the first time that I really don't feel comfortable making a decision about an election. It seems like it may come down to voting for "the lesser of the two evils" come November.

I know your question wasn't directed towards me, but have to put in my 2c anyway. I think a monkey would do less damage to this and many other countries than Bush did and will do. Anything - anything is better than Bush. I don't think Kerry is bad at all - though my fave was Clark.

being a good president and doing what is right in the world stage are pretty subjective things dont you think?

John Kerry just oozes sleaze all over him. He reminds me of an ex girlfriend of my brothers. Everytime she talked it sounded so false and patronising as if she resented actually havign to speak to people and didn't actually mean a thing she said and Kerry comes across as the exact same way.

Just like most politicians Jim.

The thing is Bush says stupid/scarry things, and actually means them

Kerry's false. He wants us to believe he's something he's not, and he twists the truth to make himself look better. Take a look at his website some time. Those are not the goals of a man who would have to swear an oath to defend the Constitution. Bush is little better. No matter who wins, everyone else loses.

I don't feel I can trust what Kerry is saying. I know that you can't trust the majority of what a politician says, but I really just don't have a good feeling about him. I am trying not to say a lot here, as I don't enjoy talking about politics all that much. I always felt that talking politics with someone was a sure way to end up disliking each other. LOL.

I've downgraded my expectations of politicians to a bare minimum. No, I don't trust anyone either, but what I really want - as a minimum - is someone who doesn't go around invading other countries and killing thousands of innocent people, our own included for mere egotistical motives. Pretty simple really. I've been to an army base around here, visiting a military family. I was shocked to see where they lived. Granted their housing is subsidised and they don't pay much, but the guy that goes out and gives his life for me deserves better than than a square box. Particularly, since he'll give his life in vain - imo.

I am afraid of what will happen and the backlash we most likely will be facing for what we did. Of course nothing justified 9/11, but the least I'd ask is to look at our foreign policies and to re-evaluate if maybe be are pissing people off. There is no need for a country like the US to piss anyone off - none.

I work for a major company that has subs all over the world. Literally in almost every country (this year we opened a sub in Bangladesh for crying out loud). We are a major player in the world and are always involved in multiple lawsuits - most of them justified. I work in tax, so I am very much aware of our lobbyists on capital hill - we pay an obscene amount to get everyone agreeing to our ways. We are pretty successful in the US - most of our lawsuits drag out for many years and the rulings are mostly favorable or not that bad. I am sickened to see my tax bill only increasing, though our big cheese doesn't pay taxes at all. Our raises are laughable as "we are in a bad economy" though we can pay tons of money to Washington to get our way and make sure the company doesn't pay much taxes in the US. We had to evacuate subs in numerous countries as it was too dangerous to have a salesforce there - at the same time we encourage the US leadership to continue with whatever they are doing - as long as we get our way. It is obscene. Money talks and lifes don't matter.

The whole thing makes me naseaus.
