Default Why is our Country so crap???

So as soon as we get some nice weather in the UK everything comes to a standstill. It made me laugh yesterday watching the news, "heatwave causes chaos on the roads and trains", some countries have weather much hotter than this and for longer periods but they seem to get on with it alright. It took a man from my work 3 hours to get home yesterday because all the trains were delayed. We moan when its too cold and then when its too warm!! Its the same in winter when we get an inch of snow, the same happens, everything stops!!

Sorry for going on but I am embarrssed to be British sometimes!!

I heard on the news this morning that the trains in the south are worried the rails might buckle, they are blaming it on the wrong kind of sun.

A couple of years ago all the GNER services were stopped because they used the wrong colour blue and it was causing the engines to overheat!!!

They do anything to detract from the fact that the public transport services in England are crap, particularly up north, all our buses stop at 11pm!!!! We pay our taxes for this inept service.

Was anyone on the train to kings cross on the 9:29 service the day before the hyde park concert, can you remember the farce at newark north gate with only 3 coaches for 1000 people and no organisation.

All the things we pay taxes for are naff, transport and the Law in the UK are top of my list! I think Lawyers can be very immoral people sometimes

Agree Geordie. The Japanese manage to run trains much faster than ours and with a hotter climate. Its like a few years ago when it didnt rain for 3 months so there was a water shortage, this after having about 6 months of rain!! Thats the UK all over

i don't know what the wrong kind of sun is????

It was a quote from virgin radio this morning "trains in the south east are havng timetable problems due to the wrong kind of sun" I think it was meant in jest

You would think that they would design as railway to not buckle in the heat, the friction off a train going 125 miles per hour must cause some heat in itself!!!

The term "The wrong kind of sun" is a sarcastic quote, referring to the trouble when we had particularly powdery snow, which was hard to clear from the track, hence the quote "Wrong kind of snow". Obviously the sun is the sun at the end of the day. As for building train tracks which can withstand the heat, when the majority of the tracks were built many decades ago, it was never as hot as it is these days. The problem isn't in the building as such, it's in the underinvestment over several governments since the 70's.

I think most of the lines have been re-surfaced now, brought up to speed ( the only thing that is brought to speed on the network ), after all, we have all had the Sunday experience, not being able to get a train because of "work" being carried out and having to bus it everywhere.
