Well at least the whole team is involved in playing so if an injury occurs its from playing, but from the little I could ever stand to watch of American Football it seems that a few actually play whilst the rest of them bodyslam each other than pile on top of each other. Perhaps if they didn't do that they'd need no padding.

I think u need to watch american football..... the whole team is involved and every move is accounted for, its a very clever game like rugby, its similar in strategy.

Yes, everyone is an expert. Not that I am a fan, but try watching it so at least you have a bit of a clue as to what you are saying.

I don't watch American football and never have properly - just bits and pieces of matches but I don't have a problem with the game. However, I don't like the way that a game that, despite being adapted from REAL football, should be referred to as "football" when its the farthest thing from it!

Rugby was adapted from football too but we did the sensible thing of calling it something different!!

And it isn't the fact that Americans call it football that annoys me the most but the fact that instead of renaming their beloved sport they go and rename ours "soccer" and expect the world to follow! Now, putting yourself in our shoes, would that or would that not p*** you off?

I've also heard how they want to change football (soccer). I've heard they want to split the game into 4 quarters instead of 2 halves and have time outs like American Football and Basketball, etc. I've also heard that some Americans want helmets to head the ball with because it can cause concussion. Don't know if it's true, but I heard the pitch is to be divided into 3 zones to make it more exciting. The 18 yard box being worth one goal, outside the box up until the centre circle to be worth 2 goals, and the area where the centre circle to be worth 3 goals. What a load of ********. :P
I think someone is taking the cunt here mate. i hope so at least. anyone seen that new budweiser advert they take over football?

though a guy I know who moved to Cali years ago said they take runs (kind alike ice hockey) for penalties instead of spot kicks.

My best mates going to the US on a scholarship for playing football after the summer, imagine how aggrivating thats going to be hearing the word soccer every 5 minutes.

and neil to get really basic about it. in american football you get 4 shots (downs) to get 10 yards up the field, the guys "body slamming" each other are blocking the defense from tackling their guy with the ball. and if you've seen some of the tackles they do, you wouldnt mind having a bit of protection too. aussie rules is barbaric but the only reason they dont wear protection is cos they're idiots IMO
