The challenge we have today is to slow it down and stop "feeding" the monster, as well as to figure out ways to deal with huge catastrophies. We know they'll happen and more or less precisely where, we just don't know when. Yet you don't hear any leader talking about what we should start doing if the sea rises 6 meters in the next 50 years as a more and more studies or saying.

If you take the French example, we have a lot of sea shores, close to which many people live, where a big part of tourists go and where a lot of industries are installed. The human and economical impact of inaction would be so much greater than the impact of big scale action now.

It's everybody's interest to address these issues and put pressure on the ones who don't.

Thats right, all the evidence is there now that the sea levels are rising and not just from the ice caps melting but from the sea warming up too. I heard somewher that if it warms up by another 2 degrees which isnt alot then something like 15% of land will be lost just in the UK .So where are all these people going to live once their land has gone? What about all the rubbish left? and where are we going to put the rubbish after that thats produced everyday? Personnaly i think it would be a good idea to start seeing if we can turn the desserts into places where we can live .this wont solve the problem we've got but at least its a good short gap .

Maybe because you're unable to project yourself 5, 10 or 50 years from now.

Maybe because it's still not that visible.

Maybe the day you see it for real in dowtown Glasgow you'll be bothered.

Maybe the day you suffer from it you'll be bothered.

Maybe the day you have kids you'll be bothered.

But then it might be too late.

You know during the German occupation of France during WWII, the vast majority of the French stayed silent and passive while one minority resisted and another one collaborated with the ennemy.
60 years later, because of that vast silent and passive majority, many people, outside France, generalize things and think the whole French people collaborated and spent it's time turning jews in.
This to say that three generations down, the passive are never remembered as saviours, far from, and I want my kids and grand kids to be proud of I did/did not, and want to be proud of it myself.

Don't you?

Well the UK is about to shrink in more than one way, so... why address only one?

Remember fat people drowning will raise sea levels even higher. So way to go thinning Brits!
