Sometimes Jimbo, I don´t understand you.
It's called irony. It seems to be exclusive to Brits as far as picking it up goes.

cause you all share the same lack of humor??

I am with Neil, I'd like to think that I'd be doing a lot of good with all those billions. You can party on a yacht the same whether you have 1 billion or 40.

I am also NOT for extending all that money to my bloodlines. Sure, I'd make sure my child has a nice home and college paid for, maybe even a nice retirement fund. Other than that, I think it will do him good to work for a living like the rest of his bloodline

I'm not going to deny that I have a selfish way to look at things but most if not all of the people on that list got that money by themselves (wether it was legal or not is a different matter) but they didn't get where they are just by luck.

Not aimed at anyone but I wonder how different people's stances on the situation would be if they were on that list with regards to giving it away etc....

The point is that 40 billion is just simply too much . Yeah, he worked for it and he should have tons of money. The question is how much is way too much.

As for giving money away. I don't necessarily view that as an unselfish thing. I know for myself --- I probably couldn't live with myself if I didnt. There are things I dreamed of when I was a kid/teenager of all the things I'd do in life (charitable things), but probably will never be able to, due to lack of funds and time. If I did find myself in an obscene amount of money and would start doing all those things I've always dreamed of, it wouldn't be quite unselfish - would it?

Giving the money to less "developed" countries would definately be a good idea. If the money is invested well, think of the children (lol) who could then get an education, villagers could construct water irrigation drains (not made out of money if that's what anyone is thinking! hehe).

There could be an endless use for it. Although as Jimbob said, it may be completely different if I actually had all that money. I'd like to think that I would give most of it away.

With a cool 40 billion I'd do a lot of good. I'd also do a lot for myself, and find some under-the-table way of passing on as much as possible to any children I had in such a manner that Uncle Sammy didn't get 77%. I wouldn't want anyone telling me I've got to give a certain amount to undeveloped countries, or forceably redistributing my wealth, or making it unprofitable or arduous to transfer the complete amount of my wealth to my children. That's just theft. If I want to be generous, that's great, if I don't, it's nobody's business. Anybody know the ten planks of communism?

No amount of personal wealth is "too much."

Adrian
