Don't have a car, or a sofa in my uni room, so yeah, they are probably in fact under the bed

then why you do it? Surely you think it looks good and hence it becomes a fashion accessory.
Yeah, maybe. I think I just like having things on my arms. And if you've got small things like bands, they take up less space than huge chunky bracelets

I do agree with Adrian, giving to charity should be about the giving, wearing a wristband is simply declaring it to everyone, plus the fact that they cost money to make which could go to the charity, so less money is going to charity just so people can show off the fact that they give to charity.

Someone gives to charity and shows off? How cares? He gave. The people at the end of the line that benefit from the money don't care if the guy that donated is bragging about it.

Showing off can also turn out to be some promo for the cause.

You give and get a wristband you fancy wearing. You helped someone and you're proud of it. Wearing it can also bring the cause back in mind so people can donate again. It's an all win situation.

what he said.

Plus Neil, you don't seriously think that the wristbands are sold at a loss, do you????

I don't wear these wristbands but I'm pretty sure that making them doesn't cost them more than 5 cents and then they sell them at one euro or more. By people wearing them they ensure selling more and so end up earning so much more than they invested and calling attention to their cause. Not bad marketing, and a lot of helping.

Wearing wristbands is not about showing off that you have given to charity, it is about RAISING AWARENESS!

with regards to people showing off for charity.

I was at a charity do 2 weeks ago and they did an auction.

a guy bid £250 for a signed framed rangers strip, gave the auctioneer the money then handed the strip back and told him to re auction it, then put in the 1st bid at £300.

fair enough he coulda just gave them 500 quid and be odne with it but if he wants to show off let him, he's still putting the money in.
