Default wtf? put male black kids into their own classes!!!

so the committee for racial equality are about to issue a report saying since there's a culture of kid's being embarassed to look smart and learn in schools that black male pupils should be put into classes on their own to fix the problem.

just kinda wondering where the black females and pretty much everyone else going to a school in the UK who experience that same atmosphere fit into the grand scheme of things?

they also reckon black teachers should be paid more to encourage more to take up the job.

That's the way to defeat racism

I saw something about this on the news, it basically said (and I don't know how they calculate this, probably sampled 2 people or some low, stupid ammount) that black boys needed extra lessons, which is a load of bollocks. It doesn't matter if they're black, white, green or blue, some students need extra lessons. It is stupid to sort them by skin colour, might as well start seperating them by how tall they are or how much they weigh.

I don't know if this is across the ocean or not, but it seems like they're doing the "seperate but equal" thing that we had a problem with, only in reverse. You want to make sure everyone's treated the same (which is what government should do, instead of trying to stamp out racism which will never die), treat them all the same. Reverse discrimination is moronic.

my biggest grieviance is that pretty much every pupil in the UK goes through that bollocks of not wanting to look too smart it's not something exclusive to ethnic minorities.

As for paying them more. nice way to breed contempt for people. I want to go into teaching, why should someone get more than me because of the pgment of their skin? why not give me more cause I live in a scheme and went to a shitty school? or what about my mate with a heart defect that's bro died of the same thing? or what about someone that's really over weight and got hassle through school for it?

some people have cushy lives, and some don't. I'm not against trying to even things out but where do you draw the line?

It should be one rule for all , if you go down the route of doing things different for someone then the whole system will fall apart . These bloody do gooders do more harm than good.

They have been making noises in this country about giving girls seperate classes also Some studies show that girls do better than boys in math if there are no boys in the class. My take on this is that there are 2 genders in the world (more or less ) and you might as well get used to dealing with the opposite one sooner rather than later.

And Adrian - why will racism never die? Eventually, with more exposure and education everyone should be able to tolerate someone different from themselves. Not everyone needs to see reflections of themselves when they look at someone elses skin - or religion.

We read a book on that last year in Women's Studies called Schoolgirls. It basically dealt with the "hidden curriculum" which explains the steep decline in confidence as girls reach adolescence. Personally, I never had this experience. The only time I struggled in math was OAC calculus. It had nothing to do with the fact that there were guys in my class. In fact the guys seemed to be having just as much trouble with the class.

As for giving black children their own schools, there was talk to trying to implement it in the Greater Toronto Area. Ultimately it was shot down because it was seen as racist. But advocates for the program cited the lack of positive male black role models for children.

Racism will never die because there are just too many stupid people in the world. You can't make everyone think exactly the same. Stuff like this, segregating schools FOR black people will just reinforce existing racism.

Not that racism is a good thing, but instead of trying to wipe it out by giving certain ethnic groups special treatment, we should just concentrate on making everyone equal under law.
