I like the idea of actually having to swing the club instead of flicking the analog stick.

madden (again which is out on the 360)
With Wii you actually have the throw the ball. Made 2007 a lot more fun the the previous ones. Along with other stuff of course.

the boxing ones (which i can't see being better than fight night on the 360)
Fight Night is great, but with Wii you can actually box. Remote in one hand, the C-stick in the other, you actually box. Not just use the sticks.

i know you use the stick for tiger woods but ive been told by a few people that the way it has been out into practice absolutely sucks.

throwing the ball in madden sounds like a gimmick that would get in the way of the actual game. ever played that arcade football game with the ball you have to kick as well as control the player? it sucks and is too hard.

the boxing could be cool if you were actually boxing but i can see it getting boring pretty quickly

The thing I've found with the Wii boxing games is that they respond to restricted, smaller movements better than if you actually get into the game properly. Hence, if you happen to be playing as though you are actually swinging punches, you'll find your success rate is a lot lower than if you literally use your wrists to flick the controller in order to punch which kind of takes away from the whole 'fighting' aspect of the games.

The controller is (I find) very hit or miss as to what the receiver decides to

a) pick up, and
b) interpret the movement to be.

I like the idea behind the golf but I don't think the technology is good enough at replicating what you would expect to be the result from a swing. For instance, if you again use your wrist to merely flick the controller, you can easily obtain a 300 yard drive. On the flip side, if you take one all-mighty swing, you can achieve the same result.

How any level of consistency can be achieved in games from one shot to another is a mystery - as far as I have experienced, there isn't any. This results in extremely frustrating moments such as when you want to putt a 2ft tap-in and end up unintentionally walloping the ball some 20ft too far and off the green. All you would use in real life is a small flick of the wrist or a gentle cushioned push and yet these two movements would result in completely different shots in the Wii's golf games.

if you can't "really" box then i'd much prefer the system with the better graphics and engine.

fwiw even if it did respond to real boxing punches, if you've never boxed you can't appreciate just how much shadow boxing (which this would be) knackers you even though you're not hitting anyone or being hit.

i play games to chill out there's no way i want to run myself into the ground play fighting.

Even though the proper boxing technique doesn't work as well as a less conventional method, it is more fun and yep, I (and no doubt many others) can vouch for the fact that not only does it completely knacker you out but the next morning, you'll ache like f**k too!

I actually injured my arm playing the Wii-sports bowling - it's easy to get fixated with the idea of trying to get a perfect 890 on the practice mode.....

.... I never did manage it!
