That's awesome, Choc! I hope you have a great time! Tell us all about it when you get back! Luckily, yo have some more time to concentrate on the language. I'm sure it'll be a thrilling experience.

@Kathleen: I am going with a group of students from my University. We're going to spend about 3 days in Moscow and then 2 1/2 weeks in another City (Nizhnij Novgorod - about 400km east of Moscow) doing a language course & staying with families.

About the Visa requirements:

Russian Tourist Visa

* Letter from tour company or cruise line confirming itinerary and including a copy of the confirmation from authorized Russian travel company which shows the reference number and confirmation number for the visa.
*If Individual Travel: Confirmation of hotel arrangements from authorized Russian travel company, or directly from the Russian hotel, showing reference number and confirmation number for the visa.

As we are not staying at a hotel but with families it was harder to get a visa. They had to send us an official invitation which we had to give to the authorities and we had to wait for the authorities to accept them. It's crazy
