Default Are the Beatles still relevant today?

Let's have a discussion

Clearly, the Beatles are widely regarded as the Greatest Band ever, because of what they did for music. But do you think they are still relevant in the music world today? Or does their music not compete with todays? Discuss

I think music today is heavily influenced by The Beatles. I am not a huge fan of them myself, but I can hear their influence throughout various songs today. BJ's Crush cd being just one example of that. There are a couple songs on there that you can tell were heavily influenced by The Beatles.

Plus, it seems many musicians always mention them as an influence, and for a band to continue to be that well known today is quite an accomplishment. Their greatest hits album went number one a few years back, which shows that they are still relevant today.

I think Beatles are the roots of today's music.

Until rap and hip hop changed the format of much of modern music - the Beatles were the standard of the popular format. Even today - listen to Guster - Beatles influence (admitted by them also) all the way. As Mouse said, several Bon Jovi songs are clearly Beatles influenced. Of course there was Oasis also.
The Beatles have had a massive influence on music for 40 years.

Everyone has said yes, so I must say no. :P

But seriously, I have to agree with what has been said. Their influence to rock (pop) music is obvious.

i think that is shared very much so with dylan. hip hop and rap IN MY OPINION started with dylan ~ well i mean just listen to half his stuff. it doesnt need to be explaind, beatles did alot for the buisness and as kathleen said many many bands love and follow and are inspired by them and they're style but at the same time dylan was coming onto the scene and was taking over in different aspects. john lennon was quoted a number of times saying his solo stuff was dylan influenced to a huge extent

And even before Dylan was Elvis! John Lennon was also quoted as saying, "Before Elvis, there was nothing."
