Arctic Monkeys

The new album is absolutely awful. An absolute chore to listen to.

Tricky. The album peaks in the first song in my opinion. I like it, but can totally understand why it's getting such backlash. I think it'll be a grower personally but it's certainly not gonna bring new fans in, only drive current ones away.

Once again though, props for trying something different, which is a reason I love them. They could have easily written AM II and got more success but they've switched it up. If they've failed, they've failed. No shame in that.

I've only listened to it once and was very overwhelmed for obvious reasons. I'm a casual fan, so there's no rush to listen to it again, but time will tell what I think after more listens.

I think there's a 20% chance this is a sleeper hit and 80% that it's a legacy-tarnishing turd, considering all of the other 5 previous albums were more or less very acclaimed and this probably will break the streak.

This is the definition of "slow burn".

I do really appreciate Four Out Of Five, but the rest will take some getting used to. Maybe it's weird but I feel like this is an album I will appreciate more in the winter when it's dark out more often. A shame, since it's mid-May.

Thankfully, this new record has reaffirmed for me how ****ing incredible their first 2 albums are. There's not many debut albums as strong as Whatever People Say I Am.

There's no doubting it's a great album, but I struggle to get through it sometimes. I think they hit their peak with 'Humbug' when they proved how versatile they can be. There's not a bad song on that album.
