I saw BITUSA live and to be honest, it wasn't great. One of the few occasions when I prefer the album version to the live version from Bruce.

I think Tico's Stick is probably right about it too. Bruce has spent decades writing about Vietnam, the failure of the American Dream and in a wider context, the little guy being sold short.

I doubt he wants to be singing a song that is about how blind patriotism is stupid / America might not be all it's cracked up to be and your average man in the States gets a raw deal thanks to the powers that be just to see thousands of these people waving flags and screaming "YOO ESS EHH!!!!" back at him.

Thanks for the info.

Another question. I was at the Vancouver show and everyone seamed to be booing in between songs. What's the significance of that?

Are you sure were booing and not screaming "BRUCE"? I'm still a casual fan of his, but I've heard people do that in his live DVDs.

No, they were definitely booing. I've noticed this in other live videos as well.

It isn't booing, it really is 'Bruuuuuuuuce'.
And for BITUSA, it opened the encore here as well and I was pleased to hear it kick in but the bass was too heavy and the song too sloppy.

I salute you,
TS

I feel like a lot of people around me didn't understand that. Because I thought it was too, but all I heard was "booooooo"

That's the same thing I ran into at the show last week. I kinda figured after a little bit it was Bruuuuuuuuuuce but even Bruce looked a little weirded out after it became louder than the actual applause. The ones screaming it seemed to be drunken morons anyway, from what I saw.

This. I first noticed it on the Live in New York City DVD and got confused but immediately thought that it must be 'Bruuuuuce' that they are shouting as that's the only thing that makes sense.

I salute you,
