I am getting jealous of all these great shows and no fall dates announced here Glad you got a good show Jim.

Anyone here going to Cardiff? I enjoyed Hampden so much I'm considering taking a little road trip in July

Love what Bruce says at the end:

It's what I do. And what do I do? I live to do it for you one more time [laughs]. That's what seems natural to me. What I can't imagine is not doing that. That's your primary life force. I go back home after a tour, what am I thinking about? "What story needs to be told? What do I have to say of urgency to a 15-year-old kid, or a 70-year-old guy, out there?"

That is an appetite. It's like breathing. It's not something I have to work on. And it doesn't strike me as work. It's just an adventure. I'm always looking for that next line, that next song.

It's the old Dylan line: "He who is not busy being born. . ." I live by that one a lot.

Isn't that a super nice interview. And like you, I love the end. Especially the "What do I have to say" part.

Coventry got hell of a show and I'll be seeing him tomorrow!

So, tonight, after waiting for so long, I finally was at Bruce's concert at his own venue.
After some doubts about the golden circle we managed to get in there and enjoyed the 2 support acts. Especially The Black Crowes were really good!
Then it was finally time for Bruce. The first half of the show was by far the best. LOHAD and I finally got My Love Will Not Let You Down. I was hoping he would play that song and he did! Then Sherry Darling as a request and Growin' Up. 'So Young And In Love' was awesome. Before they played it Bruce said it was time to test the E-Street Band as the song has a cheeky bridge which it indeed had but they nailed it, at least almost.
I expected he would pick more signs during the show but he did not. We got the whole Darkness album which is not my favourite and although I don't like much of the studio-versions of the songs of that album, they did make it work live. Extended solowork and more interaction with the audience.

Pay Me My Money Down couldnt have been in a better spot then right after the Darkness album. Shackled and Drawn came and Waiting On A Sunny Day, which was a special song as it was raining on and off tonight. The rest of the set was a bit 'standard'. Lonesome Day and The Rising never did much for me. Thunder Road was phenomenal and so was the encore. All standard songs but in a brilliant order. Born In The USA was way better then the last time I heard it last year on a festival. The overall soundquality was a lot higher then last year as well. Bruce was in great shape and you could see he was having fun. I never heard him with a better voice.
Close to the end of the encore he kept repeating 'It is not raining hard enough yet' while the rain was really pooring down at that moment. Bruce was unstoppable and stood out in the rain and brought the whole horn-section with him. I rather preferred something more special then 'Twist and Shout' and 'Shout' as they felt a bit like fillers to me. The show could use another rarity but it didn't come. Even though it was raining I am not going to complain with 34 songs and 3 hours and 20 minutes of Bruce Springsteen. The first time I saw him back in 2007 he was ill and only played 2 hours. The next time was last year at a festival when his voice was shot after playing Cologne the night before. Tonight, the third time, I got Bruce how I like him best. In shape, having fun and at a venue of his own. Incredible evening!

I'm glad you finally got your full Bruce show! I love the Darkness album, so I'd have been thrilled to get it played it full. (Got it once at old Giants, but not at any of my other full album shows.) I hear you when it comes to Twist & Shout. That song does nothing for me no matter who does it, but Bruce fans love it and he does it all the time. Ugh. On this tour it seems like Bruce is putting most of the "good stuff" in the main sets, and the encores are fairly predictable. I've always liked one big WOW moment in an encore.

And one more thing - Growin' Up followed by Downbound Train . . . nice. Very nice indeed!

Oh wait. One more - The River leading into the Darkness album. So good.

As Kathleen says, we really need an announcement about more U.S. shows!

Allthough the 2nd half and the encore were solid as a rock it felt a bit auto-pilot to me. Not Jon-autopilot but still a bit standard. Then again, I am too spoiled if I am going to complain about some songs when I got a close to 3,5 hour concert

I am not a big fan of Darkness but they made it work live. Extended solo-work and just a great atmosphere did a lot to 'boost' the songs. It made me even enjoy Prove It All Night, one of his weakest songs in my opinion.

Yeah I'm with you on this. He played Twist&Shout and Shout in Milan too and honestly, after 15 minutes of that, I was quite bored. I know it's a fun moment and gets the crowd going but I would have liked something different... But oh well, I can't complain about that great show.
