Bad bad Bryan!
He most certainly did not forget how to play a guitar solo. I saw Bryan Adams live this summer and his solo during "It's Only Love" was..... superb. I looked around and everyone was just staring at him. He was so into it that I enjoyed the song so much more.

Well he certainly isn't playing any on Bryan's new pop album.

The It's Only Love guitar solo's from Keith Scott are the perfect example why not that good guitarplayers shouldn't do big solo's like that. It's messy, full of mistakes, unorganised and without any structure whatsoever.

Yes it is. His scales aren't always in the right key, it's always a bad improvisation, when he goes to fast he just makes a long bend to keep up with the tempo again, and there's no structure in it. It doesn't build up to a climax in any way.

You can hear this all at the officially released DVD's from Budokan and Slane Castle.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I just got his new album though the post from Play.com yesterday. After one listen I thought it was alright, nothing special and with no memorable tracks, some of which have a "heard-it-all-before" feel to them.

Though IMO the production is certainly better than 18 'til I Die and OADLT, with not so muffled and dumbed down guitars. Still a very "pop" production rather than the quality sound that was present on the Reckless and Neighbours albums.

I've listened to it two or three times. The ones that stood out for me are East Side Story, and She's a Little to Good for Me. I can relate to She's a Little to Good for Me because it reminds me of girl I used to know and it seems to be the heaviest song on the album.

I think overall it is a bit like the On A Day Like Today album, where there are a couple of good tracks and the rest is just really soft rock/pop. I think Bryan Adams has a powerful voice, and he sings the rock songs really well. Shame there aren't too many of them on his latest albums.
