I've seen JM a couple of times. First time I thought he was great, then the second with Peter Green I thought he was overshadowed by Green... Maybe it was just the night but I found him a little boring. And my Dad who's seen him on a number of times (dating back to the 60s) doesn't like the band he had at all, thinks they're the worse...
Really? When I saw him with Peter Green, it was the other way around. Peter Green was really struggling with his voice and seemed almost bored. But when John Mayall came on, he just oozed energy and gave a great performance. I thought his band were good too, especially his guitarist Buddy Whittington I think his name was.

I was kind of with my dad with the band, although he really didnt' like them, I just didn't think they were much of anything.

Peter Green is really funny (not ha ha). I've seen him 3 times now, and his performance has been very veried. First time he was amazing, really on form. Then the second time he was actually better, but the venue let the show down, he was better the concert wasn't. Then the last time I saw them he was off all night. The concert was very good because of his band, but he just wasn't in with his guitar playing...

I think he still struggles, and has better days. Incidently, when he was bad, he still seemed to be loving it onstage and was doing a funny dance. But you get glimpses of the guitarest he was, maybe only just a run or a note that he plays, but you know it's a genuious playing it. I think the thing is, sometimes you get more glimpses than others.

I must've caught him on one of his good days then!! I liked his funny cut down stratocaster aswell. That made me chuckle!
