I'm so bored of this "this band copied that band" bullshit it's boring. Why doesn't someone just make an official thread on this board, and we can all put all the songs copied.

Fair enough. There are many copies out there, BJ have done some but so has everyone else.

But this is a blatant rip-off. The melody is the same and the backing chord progression is identical.

Just don't listen to it?

I just don't get the point of crying over this. I also think there's a thin line between copying, and getting inspiration. You'd have to hate A LOT of bands if you're going to go by this.

I still dislike Coldplay.

Pop bands that blatantly copy something note for note, yes I do hate them. Well, I hate pop bands anyway.

This is not "inspiration", this is very much a clear copy. Had it been inspiration, as you say, then I wouldn't bother posting it.

Did you listen to the whole track? The fact that the overdub is an almost perfect match is disturbing. You may not care as much cause you probably like whatever music you listen to because "it's catchy". I like composition, being that I've played instruments all my life.

This doesn't really bother me, but being that for some unknown reason people seem to think Coldplay are geniuses, innovators etc, it's quite enjoyable to point and laugh at them.

I maybe like a few songs of Coldplay, but that will be the studioversions. Chris Martin can't sing one song good live. Pity.

I just have a hard time believing all these bands that are accused of copying other bands, really sit there and think "yes, I shall copy that" But I don't know, maybe I am wrong. But either way it's not going to make me automaticaly dislike a band.

I like some music because it's catchy. But mostly I like music that I feel have great lyrics (I know Bon Jovi have some shit lyrics, but the one's they do well they do damn well IMO.) And also the emotion. That's the two main things I usually look for.

And yes, I happen to think Coldplay are fantastic in both areas. When I listen to most of their songs the emotion overwhelms me. I don't personally get how people don't get it. I mean come on - The Scientist!? Trouble!? In My Place?! etc. But I guess that's the shit/beauty in life - everybody sees things differently.

I just get a bit annoyed with these types of threads, because there's been so much talk about it on here. And I say just don't ****ing listen if you don't like it. I mean...I'm not making a thread banging on about how much I hate Busted and McFly or whoever. Why? Because I just don't listen to it if I don't like it...simple!

There's no maybe about this one and you're wrong. It's so ****ing obvious and there's no reason for any doubt whatsoever. I don't really understand why you have a hard time believing it this time and all the other times people have posted examples. The example shows a perfect match and yet you think Chris Martin wrote the melody himself? Considering the millions of possibilities you have when writing a song it's actually harder to believe that he didn't steal it.
