Default Color Me Badd Member Arrested After Assaulting Bandmate Onstage

Quote:
NY Times: ...When big-name acts would play Oklahoma City, (Color Me Badd) would follow them around and perform spontaneous auditions... (In 1988...group member Kevin) Thornton spotted Jon Bon Jovi in a movie theater...(and) telephoned the other(s)...(They)...waited for (him) to leave, and (sang) the 1961 doo-wop hit Daddy's Home. Mr. Bon Jovi promptly invited the group to be his band's opening act for an audience of 15,000 the next night.
Quote:
TMZ: ...Bryan K. Abrams...lead singer in the group...Color Me Badd...was clearly pissed off about something, because after performing a song at Del Lago Casino in Tyre, New York, he strutted up to (bandmate) Mark Calderon and...shoved him...

Calderon hit some sound equipment on his way to the floor...he was taken to a local hospital and treated for neck and back pain...

An eyewitness (says) Abrams...was having a bad night with his voice. He eventually walked off stage he was so frustrated...Abrams...was arrested for misdemeanor assault (and) taken to jail...His bail was set at $2,000.

As for the fate of the band -- unclear.

Quote:
People.com: Abrams can be seen walking up to Calderon while the singer addressed the audience after the group finished performing their hit song I Wanna Sex You Up before shoving him to the ground...Abrams allegedly screamed, “I’m motherfcking Color Me Badd!”

...Calderon (said) that Abrams' alleged drinking prior to and during shows has been “an ongoing issue” and that he hopes his longtime bandmate seeks treatment...
Jon once said, "We'll play a pay toilet and bring our own change." Well, it doesn't matter if your audience consists of half a dozen people peeing or a stadium full of people screaming -- since they paid to be there, the ONLY thing that should be on your mind once you set foot on that stage is making them damned glad they decided to spend their precious time and bloodstained money on you. Performers have been known to lose their tempers onstage due to technical problems, of course -- but that's precisely because technical problems get in the way of what you're trying to deliver.

You may hate the fact that you're playing a small-town D-list venue for chump change. You may be feeling badly about having too much of a waistline or not enough of a hairline. Or you and a bandmate may be in love with the same grouple. But whatever it is, you leave that sh*t BACKSTAGE when it's showtime!!!

The promoter ought to dump them as a client, and the venue ought to sue them for a refund.

P.S. Calderon hurt his back and neck when he "hit some sound equipment on his way to the floor"? Suppose he'd hit it hard enough to break his neck?
