Life On Mars and Changes sound ****ing awful on the DVD. Rearranged horribly so he can actually sing them.
Have only watched that DVD once as I prefer the bootlegs I've got, but at the shows I went to he sang those brilliantly, yes they may have been in a lower key as people's voice tend to change over the years but I feel that he sings better than he did in the 70-ies.

No he doesn't, as I said he quit when his daughter was born.
He used to be a heavy smoker, even smoked on stage, but not anymore. He was very annoyed when he had his heart attack that why now when he's fitter and healthier than ever, no smoking and hardly no drinking and keeping fit.

Either way, his voice has been effected from his smoking.

Well considering that he's voice and his singing got better over the last 15 years I'd say no to that. I believe he's one of the few where the smoking didn't affect his voice in any major negative way. He took singing lessons in the 1980-ies as many of the big singer do to cope with touring. IMO he has a very wide range.

I think I agree - I feel his voice has only gotten slightly 'warmer' these last few years.

I'm not saying his voice is bad or anything. But listening to other songs and things, you can tell a slight difference in his voice. He should count himself lucky because his voice is still very good.

His voice does sound good, but it's obvious that he has lost his range completely.
