Listened to Gotta Let It Go last night, and couldn't stop laughing. If anyone doesn't think they ripped off Have A Nice Day, they must be tone deaf.

Well,

I'm very surprised. It has so many styles/genres. I was really shocked when "Love" went where it did at the end of the song. "Go" is a great song to start the album. "Tomorrow", "Hallucinate" and "Come Undone" are my favs right now as well. I love how they blended their influences from "Yeah" witht the Def Leppard Style and still give it a modern vibe. I think some of the lyrics were deeper than what most people think they're capable of. I love to guitar back and forth on songs like "Go" The only complaint I have at the moment is like every Jovi or Leppard album since the late 90's. It's just a little too slick. There are some clunkers on the album as well. "C'mon C'mon" is a pretty obvious rip off of Gary Glitter. Then again so was "Mas Tequila". I think Sammy did a better job with it though. I also agree about the last song sounding a LOT like HAND. You think that's bad, pick up the new Whitesnake album. There's blatant rip offs of Still of the Night, Crying in the Rain, Slow n Easy. I guess it's not stealing if it's your music. I think the new DL album is better than the new Whitesnake album. I wasn't expecting that to happen..... Overall it's better than average for a post Mutt Def Leppard album.

well i don't know if that was intentional...
but that's still a nice song....

actually each song seems to be a copy of other songs...

Go : Korn/Metallica/Dream Theater
Nine Lives : 4 Letter Word
C'mon C'mon : Marilyn Manson's Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggely-Zag
Love : LedZep/Queen/Yes
Tomorrow : U2's Elevation, Torn to Shreads
Cruise Control : a song from Euphoria or X don't remember which one
Hallucinate : this one is a PURE Def Leppard
Only The Good Die Young : Michael Learns To Rock
Bad Actress : Crush 40/Hardline's Bad Taste
Come Undone : ACDC/Led Zep's Cachemire or even Jovi's I Want To Be Loved for the riff

still i think this record is full of fun!!!
i really like the guitar riffs and solos on this record

I think Cruise Control sounds like the chorus to Cry from the X album, if that's the one you're thinking of.

To those in US: does the album come in any special edition? I.e. best-buy only version or something like that? If so, which one do you recommend?

I'm really likin "Only The Good Die Young", the rest I'm sure just need more time to wash over me - most of DL's stuff is like that for me. It feels like I've heard all these songs before though.

edit: I'm lovin "Nine Lives" now too.
edit again: "Nine Lives" and "Tomorrow", those two tracks are killer.

I finally got the album. I wish new CDs here are sold cheaper just like in the US. But anyway, overall I think it's a good album.

The usual 4 questions when reviewing a DL album:

1. Is it better than X? Yes
2. Does it rock? Yes
3. Is it their best effort since Hysteria? HELL NO
4. Is there any song in the album worse than All Night? No

At first listen, I was underwhelmed, given all the reviews I read (and not just in DL board). From the reviews it seems that Go is the best thing since sliced bread (it's not) and the album is their best effort since Hysteria (not again). However, it is a good album. Plenty of riffs and cool solos in this album (even though some of them are recycled from various sources) and it rocks (for DL and its contemporaries' standard anyway).

Gotta Let It Go chorus rips HAND's verse structure but that's about it. It's not as bad of a ripoff as, say Two Story Town.

I can't find any turd in this album at all. Some songs are mediocre but nothing in this album is really horrific.

Great tracks:
Go, Hallucinate, Tomorrow, Gotta Let It Go

Good tracks:
Nine Lives, Love, Bad Actress (with better melody, this would be a great track. killer solo though)

Average tracks:
C'mon C'mon (C'mon, this can't be the next single unless you want to destroy the album sales), Come Undone (just bland), Cruise Control, Only The Good Die Young

The DJ down my local rock/metal club was nice enough to give me his Nine Lives promo CD single last night. It's only a one-track single of the song I've had for about 2 months now, but still.

I'm just now listening to the album for the second time.
Apart from Tomorrow nothing really stands out to me.
I really don't see what all the fuss about Go is, it is a rocker and it is upbeat, but it's nothing really to write home about, I was expecting much better from this track.

Everything else sounds consistent, maybe a bit too consistent, but nothing really bad that's for sure, I guess I should listen to it more cause a lot of the songs sound like growers.
