The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

I love Rock On, I really am a sucker for slightly alternative hard rock

It's a good album, and a lot better than I expected it to be. Hellraiser and Stay With Me are awesome. I can't compare it to X though, as I only know the two singles from it

Same here. I went right off Def Leppard a while ago, I even went out and bought the 'best of' album when it was released to see if I could get back into them but it didn't resurrect any magic really. I think I'll give this a go.

I am a big leppard fan, and havnt listened to it more than once since i got it on its day of release. Waterloo sunset, as we knew before this release, is awesome - the rest of the album while not 'bad' is utterly forgettable i feel.

I have exactly the same feelings towards this album as i did Bryan Adams last effort 'Room Service' again being a big fan, it just completely didnt do a thing for me, it seemed so bland and unexciting and didnt get any emotional response from me. And with 'Yeah' being all covers, the whole feeling i have towards the album is increased. It just seems so contrived.. maybe i would of loved it 5yrs ago but today it just doesnt do anything for me. X is far better...

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

To compare it to "Room Service" is perfect, IMO. It's just forgettable.

I'd say it's objectively quite a lot better than Room Service ... however, Room Service has memories attached to it for me, so it's the album of the two that I'd rather take to a desert island or whatever

Hmm..I'm not sure the Best Of album would be the way to ressurect the magic when the focus is on songs that have been run into the dirt as well as including that travesty, the ballad written solely by outside writers released as a single for X. Though I would imagine the 2nd disc should have fared better with you with a more flattering track list. I particularly enjoyed hearing Hit and Run and Billy's Got a Gun remastered!

In the end though, if you are like me, you require quality new material to keep you driven as an active fan. X fell flat with me...joining Adrenalize as another mis-step. That meant they've been running on the fuel provided by Slang and at least half of Euphoria (I'm not as aversive to All Night as some are...but I do gag on 21st Century Girl...the songs that do win are pretty up there on my list of Lep favorites though) as far as I was concerned.

Hope you find "Yeah!" satisfying. I forgot to mention I completely forgave the title, which I initially thought was ridiculous, once I heard "Hellraiser."

I don't know what the problem is with "Rock On" that some people have. I'd hardly call it cheesy....sarcastic maybe...poignant....cryptic. I didn't think i'd like it either just based on the title..it wasn't what I expected.

I have to admit I really was not familiar with the songs on the album, so maybe I have that going for me.

Long long way to go is actually one of the (very few) highlights in X. The turds in X are Gravity, Girl Like You and Now. Those are the cursed trinity. I hated Slang, but I love Euphoria except for the lame All Night. Yeah is ok, a cute diversion. My problem with Rock On? It's gay.

IMO, X was their weakest effort along with Adrenalize, but is not without it's merits. I lke Now and Long Long Way To Go and I liked the videos aswell. I don't dislike any of the track on the album but they just all seem to blur into one.

Actually the rest of your post there explains why you don't like Rock On. You're a fan of their 80's material. That song they didn't write on X that was released as a single... is one of the worst things they've ever done....cliche and totally what people who don't get Leppard (not referring to you) think that Leppard is. "Oh this sounds like something Def Leppard would do!"......in the 80s. It's been a decade and half since those days.

Euphoria was where the fans of their past and the fans of their present/future could come together. Those who hated it tended to focus on particular songs that put them off so they then wrote the entire album off. It wasn't Slang II, but it wasn't Hysteria II or Pyromania II either. They managed to cover their entire history and present and meld it. That's why I love that album. Paper Sun, Day After Day and Demolition Man rank quite high on my list of faves along with most of the rest of the album being favorable. 21st Century Girl was a blatant attempt at recreating Pour Some Sugar On Me so I've never been able to stomach it. The rest of the songs that echo previous efforts, Promises for example, just don't put me off because they are done so well with enough freshness.
