Joey sounds like he used to, but he doesn't sing any of the high notes either. It's annoying how he avoids them.

Watching the live dvd "start from the dark" you will see that Joey doesn't avoid ANY of the high notes from the older Europe songs,... I even think that he got better over the years. His voice sounds stronger than ever!
Just compare a live version from The final countdown 1986 to one today and you'll know what I mean.

Actually he dodges every one of them. Just listen to Carrie. He never sings the chorus once, it's too high. In Final Countdown he doesn't sing any of the high note. Not in Cherokee. Not in Rock The Night... It's easy to check. Just listen to the recorded version and compare them to the live versions. No high notes. He dodges them all.

I have. He sung better in 1986.

Ok, listened to it again and I've got to agree with you,... he sung it better in 1986. He dodges a lot of high notes, too but somehow he didn't lose so much of his power and showmanship on stage. He still jumps and runs from one side of the stage to the other. So it doesn't disturb me that much if he doesn't sing all the high notes... I didn't even recognize it at first.

You can see how much fun he has. That's not always the case with Jon's performances nowadays...

That's true. I've enjoyed the Europe gigs I've been to, they have a nice vibe going.

How much are tix? I'm gonna see them for sure when they're here in February, but I'm curious.

About the new album, apart from the music (which is, apart from a few highlights, very solid), I REALLY like the artwork! Makes up for the boatload of typos in the lyrics.
