I just picked the BluRay up today, since it was on sale and I just couldn't hold off.

If this film doesn't receive industry awards I'll be shocked. David Mallet did a truly phenomenal job capturing EVERY aspect of these shows (3 nights.) I haven't even watched it through yet. I just started off and watch the first 5 or 6 songs into it and then started skipping due to being pressed for time.

It's a breathtaking experience to watch and listen to. At no point do I find myself cursing the director, which is something I do quite often when watching such films. Mallet really outdid himself, yet again. It's easy to see the man has such a passion and demand for perfection in documenting these massive celebrations of rock and roll.

I saw the re-issue of No Bull in Madrid on the shelf as well. I noticed the liner notes mentioning Mallet was not happy with the original result as it was rushed to retail against his wishes. I will likely pick up the BluRay of this as well. We can only hope Mallet would be able to do such justice to Bon Jovi's Live In London film at some point when Jon is ready to preserve the past rather than ignore it.

It's nice to read you are as enthousiastic as i am about the DVD. I have the re-issue of Madrid and cant find many differences apart from the sound being slightly better, yet it remains the DVD with the worst audio.

Im glad you like this DVD and I fully agree with all you said

I salute you,
TS

That tour was the first I've seen the band. I kept passing up the opportunity since the Razors Edge tour (being old enough and in a position to attend.) I was never a huge fan, just casual watching them on MTV. I had Back In Black in my teens. I was more a fan of the live show. I had more than decent seats off to the side for the Black Ice Forum show in Los Angeles. I'm glad I can say I've seen them at least once. It's great seeing that same stage in a much more massive setting at River Plate.

I just finished watching documentary which really digs in and looks at the filming, the technical aspects, the fans, the whole dynamic.

What really stood out in the documentary was how Mallet (or was it his producer?) made the distinction between Argentinian fans and European fans by pointing out that in Argentina... it's a religion. That is exactly what was going through my head the whole time, but I just didn't want to say it.

I became a fan in 2001, right after the Stiff Upper Lip tour ended. I had to wait 9 years to finally see them and I saw them twice and I never seen a concert that had so much adrenaline, energy and atmosphere as these 2. When I listen to the Bootleg of Rotterdam I still feel the energy I had then

I salute you,
TS

I watched the bluray this weekend. It's fantastic. Some fast cuts, but where don't you find them? (I'm oldschool when it comes to fast, jumping cuts). The scenery is amazing, the fans... well, they prove music is a drug. While I was chatting through parts of it, I remember some really really good performances, "Let There Be Rock" comes to mind and it might have been the best "For Those About To Rock"s I've ever seen. Pure fun.

But then again, it's all just more of the same. The "Black Ice" album didn't chatch me at all, which is why I didn't go to the tour at the first place. The second time I missed it because of illness. And this all looks just like the show I have seen in 2000, and every video/DVD, except for the new songs. When people complain about Bon Jovi's setlists, I always think how exciting and unpredictable they are opposed to AC/DCs.

Still, I wanna see that River Plate show again.

Nobody can feel discriminated when going to an AC/DC show as everyone gets to see the same show. Dont have to be scared for an overload of ballads or a poor setlist. You get what you want when you visit AC/DC and that is 2 hours of pure rock n roll. You dont have to wait and see how good the show will be, IF the show will be good at all. From the moment you buy the tickets you know it will be one hell of a show. Never change a winning formula

I salute you,
TS

Yeah, but the lack of surprises drives me nuts. From the moment they do a certain song, "Rosie" or "Let There Be Rock", you know you are in the last third of the show with all the usual suspects. It's the same with the Rolling Stones who always kinda end on the same 5, 6 big hits (not having a standard show closer though), but at least they shake up their setlists and sometimes pull out the craziest stuff from the vaults.
