dunno about the REM comment but a top class band none the less.

try to have a listen brooke. the only bad thign about them is that they;'re from edinburgh.

im trying to think how to describe them... kinda folky at times but punky ala buzzcocks but with better production and singing./ I think thats a fair estimation.

100 broken windows and the remote part are in the elite list of recorsds from years ago that still get a good spin on my stereo. morning glory and everything must go don't even get on that list which says alot IMO.

Emm.. recorded at the studio they did their first album… and know they’ve been troubled by a slight alcohol fixation! Seem alright otherwise, although their sound has fairly changed in a short space of time. A big fan yourself, Jim?

not a huge fan but I pretty much love what they do.

they're kinda like teenage fanclub or the cosmic rough riders ie a scottish band doign great things but not so MOR as travis or texas that they'll ever sell out a stadium but that's not necesarilly a bad thing.

Got into them just as they released broken windows and have seen them about 5 or 6 times since and the only problem I have is that they verge from being absolutely incredible to totally dire live which might have a thing to do with the drink but I know they tossed out they're old guitarist for drinking too much so maybe they aren't that bad or they've mellowed?

probably just the scots drinking mentalilty to be honest,.

Not really a great hook for any new fans if they can’t play consistently well live unfortunately. We may all have a drink to steady any nerves before a gig but if it’s affecting your playing then that’s a real problem… I often retell the story of one of my mates who played for a reasonable pub and club outfit a few years back who got slaughtered beforehand and started jumping off amps and trying to play power chords on bass… and this was a melodic rock band. Car crash compelling viewing.

Maybe the drinking mentality has a lot to answer for!

it does indeed. my bro doesn't want us to drink anythign before we go onstage but if it loosens you up then why not? we've come along way from battering a case of beer and hardly being able to stand when we're on but even at that, we could still play
