Embrace - Halifax 17/4/06

Quality gig this one. Iv only seen them once before and wasnt overly impressed but theyve released a fantasic album since then so I really enjoyed the set. TBH part of the reason I got tickets was because it was their local show (they are from Huddersfield) and it really showed. They played an extended gig and you could tell what it meant to them to play in front of their hometown fans. Ashes just ROCKED the whole place just shook, Natures Law was also class, with their older stuff like all you good good people and come back to what you know going down a storm.

Only slight disappointment was they didnt play the official world cup song which I dont think anyone has heard yet.

Ryan Adams and Jesse Malin both solo and accoustic.

Not sure what to say here about it. I don't do well with shows in darkness....

But Jesse Malin was cool he brushed by me while we were waiting in line to get into the venue (wearing the worst pair of pants I have seen in my entire life) and he hung out at the t-shirt stand for quite a while. Gave my son an autograph which was cool. Nasty hair though Quite a low voice for such a whiney dude too lol.

I saw the Great Big Sea on Saturday night. It was an incredible concert. It was my first time seeing them live and I was blown away by the energy and musicianship of the band. They are a small group from Newfoundland, Canada. They sing very traditional songs in gorgeous acoustic harmony with mostly all acoustic instruments. If they come this way again I will definitely buy more tickets.

Bob Dylan & Merle Haggard

The Hag was pretty good. Bob Dylan was AWFUL. I mean BAD. VERY BAD. I left before the show was over.

heheehe, told ya so

I thought the Haggard/Dylan combination to be incredibly ironic -- I don't understand why the two tour together. It seems that they aren't exactly philosophically compatible?

I think they were going to call it The Grumpy Old Men tour, but the movie-makers wouldn't let them. Haggard got annoyed with a fan dancing around to one of his biggest hits and stopped mid-song and started another one.
