The magazines have been panning Lost Highway: The Concert viciously. But I think it's mostly because of the lack of hits and stuff.

Let's just see what they think of the gigs.

I just got back from seeing Southside Johnny tonight. Goddamn - it's really a shame that he is not more well known than he is - he is so damn good.

More than half of the Max Weinberg 7 were there with him as I guess Conan is not back on the air yet. What a fantastic show. Bobby was not there though and the replacement guitarist was not particularly good .

Love SSJ too. Unfortunately they very rarely come to Gothenburg so we have to travel quite far to see him.

I saw Jersey Boys on Broadway last night. It's been open 3 years and it's still hard to get tickets. What a show - an excellent cast. The music is probably not well know by most of you here. It might be called post doo wop - or nascent rock and roll. I'd call it pop these days. Still - the harmonies were superb. It was a very sad show as Frankie Valli did not have a particularly easy time of fame and fortune.

A rather depressing aside from me is that my eldest son went to high school with the son of one of the replacement Four Seasons. Neither father nor son seems to have done well either. The kid is a hell of a bassist though. (The kid is amost 30 now - not much of a kid anymore)

A funny thing in the theater lobby was the sign warning people about the "authentic Jersey language" used in the play LOL.

Jersey Boys contains smoke, gun shots, strobe lights and profane "authentic Jersey language." We do encourage parents to use these notes as deciding factors for the enjoyment of the performance for themselves, their children and other patrons.

One review said that - We're not sure we've ever been to a musical rated PG-13 for language before.

Having grown up here I guess I never noticed that my state is the only one to be known for our foul mouths LOL.

Saw Bon Jovi and Daughtry in Greensboro on 3/16. I have to say this show was 1000% better than the Pru last year.

We have tickets to see Kansas, Brian Howe, Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet on 4/19 in Pikeville, KY. I know they're all so old now they'll be on their walkers but Kansas was the very first rock concert I ever went to so I'm looking forward to it.

Default Southside Johnny

Saw Southside Johnny in Asbury Park at the Stone Pony a few nights ago. This is a band that gives everything they have in a concert. It was the 30th anniversary of their Hearts of Stone album and they started out playing the entire album. Then Southside and Bobby (yes the same Bobby Bandiera - more on him later) did an acoustic set. Then the entire band came back out and they played a full concert. The concert was almost 3 1/2 hours long - and that doesn't count the opening bands that played both inside and outside. The music started at 5:30 and finished at midnight. The Stone Pony had 4 bars set up and a place they were barbecuing and it's one block from the water. It really doesn't get much better than this.

The Southside Johnny crowd was very happy to have Bobby back - unlike the people that bash him on this board. Bobby is buried in the Bon Jovi band - he has an excellent voice but he doesn't sing as well as Jon - and his guitar skills are superb but his style is very different than Richie's. It's a no win situation for him - though I assume he's being paid well. His acoustic guitar work was superb during the acoustic set and his voice and Southside's blend together like Jon and Richie's do. He really shines there, where he simply can't with Bon Jovi.

If anyone is interested I got an excellent recording of the show and it was just uploaded on dime.

I Saw Bon Jovi a month ago in Brussels and they were amazing. It was my fifth Bon Jovi show and one of the best I've seen.

Last week I saw Iron Maiden in Dessel (Belgium, at the Graspop Metal Meeting), and this band remembered me that night why I became a rock/metal fan. This band is absolutely brilliant with three guitar players, an awesome bass player, a completely insane drummer (hehe) and one of the best rock singers ever, mr. Bruce Dickinson. A Stunning live show, and I hope to see them back next year

I'll second that. A great gig and not as many space-hogging twats as there were for Bon Jovi.
