I saw Gallows last night in the backroom of an old, supposedly haunted, pub in Derby called The Old Bell Hotel (it's been featured on that 'Most Haunted TV show).
The last time i saw them was at the O2 Academy in Birmingham, a 3000 capacity venue. This place last night was TINY!! Max capacity of 550, it was dirty, falling apart, and packed to the rafters. No shitty 10:30pm curfew, no security barrier at the front of stage, and only one security guard. The PERFECT environment for a punk rock show.

Needless to say it was complete chaos. ****ing brilliant night!!

Saw the bootleg beatles in the royal albert hall last night, very entertaining night, i was suprised how good some of the songs sounded actually, if i'd drifted away a little bit i probably would have been happy it was the beatles, only thing wrong was the guy playing ringo, his singing was pretty poor.

Saw the Trews last night at the Opera House in Toronto. Best 22 bucks I've spent in a long time

Just got home from work, tonight I got to see;

kid British
the twang
cordiene velvet club
snow patrol
happy Mondays
James

All of the Bands were decent, the happy Mondays were the worst out of the bunch but James were fantastic! They had the BBC philamonic orchestra behind them and they sounded amazing, all in all it was a brilliant gig!

I was supposed to see Alice In Chains last Monday, but it was just too much hassle what with various things, so I sold my ticket (for just £10! ). However, on Wednesday my girlfriend and I went to see Marilyn Manson as her 21st birthday present. I do like his music, but I wouldn't say I'm a massive fan or anything, however he does put on a good show. Only problem is, I think he shot himself in the future foot somewhat in the early days ... you read stories about him ripping up the Mormon Bible on stage, or putting his penis on a security guard's head, and then when there's nothing to that level of shocking, you can't help but feel slightly dissapointed!

so feckin jealous, james are one of my favourite bands. I was actually getting a little sentimental at the weekend thinking about seeing them around this time last year with my brother and some mates.

Quite the week last week

Wednesday - A Not So Silent Night. The Wainwright family & friends' Christmas Concert at the Albert Hall. From the Choir seats it was wonderful to hear Silent Night sung back at us by the audience; Rufus turned off his mike and still filled the whole hall singing Oh Holy Night (in French - lots of French Canadian stuff going on); Guy Garvey with a wonderfully moving, authentic take on Joni Mitchell's River; Martha and Ed Harcourt having a ball on Fairytale of New York. Looooads more. Appropriately festive.

Thursday - Madness @ Birmingham Academy. About the only band who could make my first night out with my ex since we really broke up still seem uplifting. Wonderful example of a "singles" band (there are non more "singles" than Madness) can still fill a set with great album tracks and leave the audience dancing. Plus, y'know, Our House, Nightboat to Cairo, It Must be Love, One Step Beyond etc etc.

Friday - Tragedy, the All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees. These guys are just fantastic. Truly as much fun as you can have at a gig.

Sunday - Depeche Mode. Some really powerful moments, Martin Gore's solo turns particularly, but dark, stylish, crisp, felt like a band of stature. Really glad I caught them.

It's also worth noting that all four gigs together cost about the same as one mid-priced Bon Jovi ticket.

Going to the Madness christmas concerts are a bit of a christmas tradition me and my brother have now.

2 years ago my parents and some of their friends came along. We got some beers for the train and my mum was moaning about us drinking on the train incase we got hassle from the conductor.

The train pulls up, the door opened and it was a full on rammy with people going to the gig all dressed up in their nutty boy gear, fezes etc... with ridiculous amounts of booze. Being the week before christmas the conductor was full of the bevvy too.

It was a nonstop party all the way to the venue station. I'd actually have paid good money for it riverboat dinner with bon jovi fanatics? **** that give me a train full of drunk madness fans any day.

The Pogues at The Apollo in Manchester last night. It was a good gig. The band are a really acomplished set of musicians and though he could hardly walk or talk Shane MacGowan sang well.
