Last live act you've seen

I just got back form seeing ian brown and he was absolutely fasntastic, he played all his hits and then a few stone roses tracks which were top, when the bassline kicked in for I Wanna Be Adored the arena went wild, it was just a top gig and i really enjoyed it

I worked the Miley Cyrus gig last night, its really not my type of music but she had a pretty decent stage show and she has her show nailed to a tee, it was really slick and came across great, the crowd seemed to love it. What i found even more amazing was the way she advertises her other ventures during the gig, for example when she goes off for a costume change they were running trailer of a new movie she's in and then she came out and sang the lead single (which is also on her new album). During the encore she came out wearing a t shirt they were selling at the gig, so as the people were leaving the amount of times i heard little kids saying "mum can we look at the merchandise" was countless.

It really is about a brand rather than just the music and its all very cleverly marketed especially with her main audience being children or parents of those children, i now understand why she is so big.

Just as an example she sold out the arena two night in a row, so thats 34,000 tickets. Where as a few months ago kenny rogers sold 3,000 tickets there.

Got back from London on Wednesday night after seeing Daughtry/Nickelback
at Wembley Arena. Really good show from both bands...and Chad's banter, he's
just hilarious! Lots of pyros of course so glad I had my ear plugs with me.

Depeche Moder here in Gothenburg last night. They were great. They always put on a good show here in Gothenburg, one of their oldtime strongholds. Great vocals both from Dave as well as Martin and good selection of songs even though I'd love to hear Waiting for the night again. Such a great song. BUT we got Dressed in black, which I am not sure I've ever heard live before.

Clearly my music taste has been stuck in the mid 90's the last few days.

Last night I saw Miles Hunt and Erica Nochalls from the Wonderstuff at the Little Civic in Wolves. Brought out my sentimental side. They're local. I grew up in Stourbridge, so the home-town sense is undeniable, but I saw the Stuffies at my first festival, hugged complete strangers in the crowd at their reunion gigs, got misty-eyed at Piece of Sky so many times.

Wonderful gig. 70% Miles' solo tunes, but the violin added such warmth, and the tunes that really meant something to you growing up, well... The music lasts!!!!

MASSIVELY underrated band. Compared to say the nowhere-near-as-good James, or ANYONE from Manchester/Liverpool from the same period.

As Kathleen said, it isn't every band that will just tear into a song because someone in the crowd yelled the name, but that was just one of the things that happened Saturday night. What a terrific live band, and what a grand time it was! I've decided every band needs a horn section -- a talented but eccentric one, if possible.

Congrats to finally seeing them live! They are awesome aren't they? Unfortunately
they haven't come to Gothenburg in a long time now and I haven't had the time to
travel to Stockholm or Copenhagen/Malmoe to see them, but I have seen them quite
a few times in the past and they always put on a great show (and long one at that).

In a 1999 Guardian critics' poll of *alternative albums, Todd *Rundgren was the only artist apart from Nick Drake with two albums in the top 10. One was A Wizard, a True Star, his 1973 cult masterpiece made up of a side-long *sequence of mostly one-minute song fragments, a soul medley, a world *anthem to rival Give Peace a Chance, and a riot of prog, metal, glam and proto-punk, plus all manner of synthesizer tics, whooshes and *boings. But could it be *reproduced live? The 61-year-old came to London to *answer that question.

But first, he added humorist to his *credentials by providing his own support act: Todd Rundgren's *Johnson, a four-piece playing covers by bluesman Robert Johnson. It was *hilariously typical of him, just as he's being hailed as a technopop *pioneer by Hot Chip and Daft Punk, to ally *himself to raw, ragged blues.

And then the main event: A *Wizard, a True Star, the apotheosis of 70s *studio adventurism, made all the more exhilarating by Rundgren's eccentric costume changes. While the backing musicians, who handled the shifts of tempo magnificently, remained dressed in white suits, Rundgren switched from an astronaut outfit for International Feel, to a *jumpsuit for You Need Your Head, and to a fat suit for the surreal Just Another Onionhead/Dada Dali. Dogfight *Giggle was accompanied by sped-up US news footage that reminded you of the album's political subtext. It was *emotional, too. The 60s R&B medley had Rundgren in fabulous voice, and it was as riveting as the rest of the show was absurd, profound and moving.

Paid on the door for Europe last night. WAY better than they had any right to be.

John Mayer, friday night at MSG. Really god set, well paced. And, despite what you may think from hearing his records, the man is a tremendous guitar player, and cuts loose much more live than he does on Disc.
