Amorphis, with Insomnium and Swallow The Sun, last Friday in Utrecht.
Insomnium was decent; they were enthusiastic and everything was well played, but their music just didn't do it for me. After their gig ended, I moved up front and got really close to the stage. Good, since I actually bought the ticket for Swallow The Sun, who would be next. They started with 'Hope', which is my favorite song and I really hoped they'd played it. But I was kinda disappointed - you could hardly hear Mikko, the singer (or at least from where I was standing), whereas Marcus' guitar was annoyingly loud. However, the band members were very enthusiastic and they still managed to ace 'Don't Fall Asleep (horror pt. 2)'.
Apart from that, Juha's hot as hell in real life too. Goddamn.
Then it was Amorphis' turn, who headlined the gig. ****ing hell, how AWESOME they were! Tomi Joutsen not only is a great frontman, but also a great singer. Literally all of the songs they've played rocked from beginning till end and since I sooo love their new album, I was really happy that they played quite a bunch of it. Especially since they played most of my favorite tracks, which even sounded better live than they did on the studio album.
Everyone who gets the opportunity to see Amorphis; DO IT.
