I worked the Miley Cyrus gig last night, its really not my type of music but she had a pretty decent stage show and she has her show nailed to a tee, it was really slick and came across great, the crowd seemed to love it. What i found even more amazing was the way she advertises her other ventures during the gig, for example when she goes off for a costume change they were running trailer of a new movie she's in and then she came out and sang the lead single (which is also on her new album). During the encore she came out wearing a t shirt they were selling at the gig, so as the people were leaving the amount of times i heard little kids saying "mum can we look at the merchandise" was countless.
It really is about a brand rather than just the music and its all very cleverly marketed especially with her main audience being children or parents of those children, i now understand why she is so big.
Just as an example she sold out the arena two night in a row, so thats 34,000 tickets. Where as a few months ago kenny rogers sold 3,000 tickets there.
