In the heroin diaries I got the impression that Nikki got on with Jon quite well (the brothel story) but didn't like the bands music at all. Fair enough if you ask me!

the idea is great, but hair bands had huge egos in the 80's and the sad thing about it, they still do

they still bitch about eachother, Nikki sixx does not like bon jovi
Surely any Nikki/Tommy feud with Jon is not as bad as Mustaine vs Ulrich/Hetfield feud!

Everyone seems to be forgetting the fact that Bon Jovi teaming up with the supposed "hair band" lot would be shite. Bon Jovi are awesome on their own, why would we want to have sit through watching a bunch of has beens (apart from Def Leppard, i like them) to watch a shortened Bon Jovi show which would definitely consist solely of hits.

Plus, I totally agree with Jon and trying to distance themselves from the hair band thing - it's embarrassing. They're better than that lot.

i'm positive the hair band audience would love to hear Captain Crash and I Love This Town... after trying so hard to escape the hair band stigma, why would Bon Jovi tour with hair bands? even if they are still viewed as a hair band by many, they really aren't one.

This is key. Despite whatever perception, at the heart and soul they really aren't. Aspects of their presentation, especially in their appearance and live theatrics in the 80's, alluded to the genre at the time, but the songs standing alone belied something else. This truth fukked with more than a few heads in the 80's. On the surface, they looked as if they should rock harder than they were even about. This lead to the idea of Bon Jovi being "metal-lite" when it was much simpler and more accurate to just call it rock and roll.

Quite simply, the masses that view Bon Jovi as beyond the hair band genre far outnumber the circles that hold on to Poison being hair-kin. Rather, they were never brainwashed by images and just listened to the songs.

That is not 'fact'. That is 'opinion'.

I think Jovi should go back to being a hairband and call the next album
"She loves my c*ck up her ass"

Cant be anyworse than the last few album titles.

When Jovi were a hairband they had a sense of humor. Now JBJ is a tad dull.

musically speaking, Slippery and New Jersey blend well with the rock albums released around that era, so in that perspective i don't think they were so out of tune with the hair band lot. granted, their songwriting was infinitely better than that of most of those bands, their lyrics and melodies were far superior, more polished.

but even considering Bon Jovi have had a genuine hair band period at some point in their careers, that band died in 88/89. by '92 they were a different band, they changed their image, they were writing about socially conscious themes. most of the 80's hair bands never went past the friday night parties and sunday morning hangovers. not surprising they didn't survive grunge.

nothing Bon Jovi have done since '92 suggests hair metal, glam or anything remotely similar. so whoever links Bon Jovi to hair bands these days, are either stuck in the 80's or haven't listened to anything they've done since New Jersey. Bon Jovi being included in this kind of tour the Leps and Crue are doing doesn't make any sense to me. the hair band scene is somewhat underground these days, Bon Jovi are far from being underground. it would shock me seeing them tour with Def Leppard and Whitesnake, who i tag "quality hair bands", let alone with Crue or Poison. (there haven't been many hair bands i haven't listened to/liked, so i can diss them )
