Default Linkin Park

I've never really been a fan of LP, not that I disliked them just never got into them in any sort of big way. But they've now added Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara) to replace Chester and I am a massive Dead Sara fan so this is kinda cool... She's going to take a lot of flak for not being Chester but hopefully people will fall behind her when they realise how good she is.

The first taste of them:

I think she did well to do her own thing instead of trying to replicate Chester. I think it’s a good move by them. What worries me is that her voice cracked several times during this, she even had to stop singing sometimes.

I am an old-school Linkin Park fan from my childhood. I was lucky to see them live on the MTM tour. Later, I grew out of them, but now as an adult, I definitely once again appreciate a lot of their songs, especially old ones.

I think they were smart to put a female to prevent some of the comparisons with Chester, that would be unfair to anyone. She is clearly a capable singer, but lacks some of the pain that Chester was able to project. Some songs being now played in a higher key is interesting, but will take some time getting used to.

I think the success or failure of this chapter will be judged by the quality of new music they will put out. I like that they already have an album ready (unlike Oasis now or the GNR reunion back in 2016, which are both obvious cash grabs). Creatively, the band was always driven by Mike, followed by Brad. I understand that Chester's influence was more with the lyrics than with the compositions. The new song is OK, not bad, not great. I'm curious to listen to the full album once it's released.

I am surprised that Rob, the drummer, decided to also leave the band, but as I've seen fans speculate, it seems pretty amicable, like a John Deacon/Queen situation.

I'm going to guess either nerves performing with them for the first time or not at 100% because I've seen her with Dead Sara a bunch of times and her voice is always on point - to the extent I'd say she's one of, if not the best live vocalist I've heard in person.

Seen them twice in my lifetime. The second time, I went to Night 2 at The O2 and unfortunately, my favourite song was performed at Night 1 (like a Jovi moment, when you're not sure which night to go to lol) Was gutted to miss their last show before Chester died.....again, at The O2.

I saw bits of the show they live-streamed with the new singer. Sounds good.

Gonna try getting tickets this Friday to what looks like a 6-date promo tour.

With a new singer plus the drummer and guitarist (will record) not touring anymore...it's pretty pointless.

I at first misunderstood your post you just meant the guitarist wasn't going to tour. Because I knew the band was out on a tour now.

I thought there was another female singer that some people wanted to join them? However, the name has slipped my mind. It seems like it was a name that shouldn't have slipped my mind, but it did.

Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale both got floated by fans, although I don't think their voices would fit as well.

Bloody hell......

Tickets were much easier to get 15-20 years ago. Was bang on the queue (waiting room) for 2 hours before it was all gone.

Maybe we're experiencing too many bots........
