It's a number one single in waiting if it wasn't by someone as uncool as Meatloaf. It was a real pleasant surprise to me the whole album apart from the last 3 songs, I actually went out and bought Bat 2 after Xmas but didn't like it at all, it was really dull with songs that went on forever without actually doing anything.
uncool as meatloaf?? the man is a ****ing legend! hes ****ing coolest man on earth! lol. as for Bat 2 being dull i think you need to listen to it again and make sure it really is Bat 2!!

I can't, I took it back to the shop the next day. I don't usually give up on an album that quickly but it had no redeeming features. Even IWDAFLBIWDT wasn't as good as I remembered. I don't like the last two proper songs on the new album as they are again too long and don't go anywhere. I love long songs and listen to loads of prog stuff like Dream Theater, Rush, Tool etc but these were just dull. Steinman seems to write these bridges and choruses that go on forever. I don't mind if the songs shift and change and have cool solo's but these were just repetitive.

Also I'm not saying that I personally don't think Meat Loaf is cool just that he's not someone that is perceived as cool. His songs don't get on the radio much and he's seen as more of a guilty pleasure than anything else.

i can respect ur view peter but i think your mad in the head!! Bat 2 is in my opinion better than the bat 3! now that iv had time to listen to them both over and over again!

Bat 2 when i got it was hard to get onto and i only liked 3 songs which were

I would do anything for love
Out of the frying pan (and into the fire)
Everything louder than everything else

these are the 3 best songs IMO on bat 2 but as i started listening to rest of them osngs and they all have great thing about them

life is a lemon and i want my money back, good girls, it just wont quit and then we get Objects In The Rear View Mirror which is just out on its own!

Stienmen is there for the big long songs thats what makes him great! id put him on the musical genuis level with andrew lloyd webber!

as for not liken the last songs on bat3 i would have agreed with you untill last week wen i got the FAWIUTB stuck in my head for 2 ****ing days!!! Meatloaf rules and them 3 bat albums are 3 of the best ever writtin IMO!!! and i dnt feel gulity listen and liking them lol

Like I said I love long songs and I was made up when I saw the length of the songs on the album. The problem is though they can get pretty repetitive if they just go verse, chorus, verse, chorus for 8 min. There's a Dream Theater song called Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence which lasts for 38min but never gets boring as it goes through so many changes in that time.

It's not unheard of for me to buy an album and hate it, then years later re-buy it just to make sure it was crap and then end up loving it. Maybe that will happen again here. I guess there must be something about it for you to defend it like that!
