Wait a minute...So Meat and Steinman were on good terms and Meat told Steinman to piss off because he didn't want to wait a little while? Grrrrrr. You should have waited Meat. Don't water down The Bat. What were you thinking? Bat Out of Hell is you AND Steinman.
BAH!
...Still ordered it from Amazon though for 10 bucks.

no he souldnt have waited! it would have taken steinman about a year to recover from whatever state he is in! and then who knows what toll it would have taken on him to produce the album! he amited that bat 2 almost killed him!

if bat 3 wasnt done now it would never have been done!

i thought i should do a review of this album because im a huge fan of meat
loaf. so ill do a short track by track review

1. Monster Is Loose - some people are calling this Meats take on nu-metal and to be honest there are not far wrong! first i heard it i was like wtf!! but iv now listened to it maybe 30 times and everytime it grows on me a little more! it is an exellent track and one of the best heavy rock tunes around! give it a chance! Meats voice is brillant! its not in the league of bat out of hell but its def a very good opra rock song! very good riffs on it and its just a jorney from start to finish!

2. Blind As A Bat - For me the 2/3 best song on the album! brill piano on it and it has a very addictive corus! ull be boping about with this song in your head for hours!

3. It's All Coming Back To Me Now - the biggest ballad of the album! IMO better than the other version of this song! Meat and Marion really give this song a new life that i didnt think was possible! not as good as anything for love or id lie to you but a very very good song!

4. Bad For Good - 2 seconds in and you know right aweay that Brian May is on guitar! the song is fast a pumping! havnt heard the original but for me this track is exellent!

5. Cry Over Me - another ballad type song! very soft (that is meat loaf soft lol) again addicitive and another exellent song!

6. In The Land Of The Pigs (The Butcher Is King) - just like the title track it is very heavy and im not really a big fan of this track yet! it is starting to grow on me with every listen! just look at the title lol! best song name ever! lol. just a bit heavy metal than it should have been but even jim stienman saiud he was shocked thy made a song out of it!

7. Monstero - shortest song on the album! kinda of on the fence with this one! its really just an ok song! wouldnt cry if i couldnt listen to it again!

8. Alive - 1/2 best on the album! right from the opening notes it just takes the album to the the piano driven best! very big corus! its meat loaf as he should be! should have been made to last longer!

9. If God Could Talk - for me at the minute this just pips Alive to the best track on the album! it just screams meat loaf!! one of thoses track on the first listen you will hit the back botton to listen to it again!

10. If It Ain't Broke Break It - very weird starting! it will make you pick and listen again saying wtf! but once it getts really going it is a really good track!

11. What About Love - kinda in the league with cry over me! only this is more heavy per say! its a very good duet and its that opra bat of hell ballad you want!

12. Seize The Night - staright off im not a big fan of this track! its 9 mins long and it shouldnt be! its kinda like the title track of bat 2! only wif a bit more singing in it! not a fan of it but maybe it will pass the test! right now i dnt like it one bit!

13. Future Ain't What It Used To Be - another track that is only just ok! it hasnt grown on me but it has the power to! i wont damn it just yet! def one of the weaker tracks on the album.

14. Cry To Heaven - very short song, again its not bad but its ending the album on a very soft note! good song all the same

Overall it is a very very good album! but is it better than BAT 1?? in short NO! but then again what is! that album is just untouchable!

is it better than BAT 2?? in short YES! bat 2 for me had a to many ok tracks to beat this one!

a very good album worth your money if you are a meat loaf fan! it doesnt have the big standout track that the other meat loaf albums had but still better overall than bat 2. i would go as far to say its the 3rd best meat loaf album!! and yes you can rip me apart if you want!

very good album but not a classic. steinman's version of 'bad for good' is miles better, as is the pandora's box version of 'all coming back to me'.

highlights:
all coming back to me
blind as a bat
cry over me

as a small footnote, i believe that the desmond child songs on this album are, in general, far superior to the steinman-penned tracks.

another quick question; why did damon lascot leave/get sacked from the band? for me, he was the best guitarist meat loaf ever had. his solos always fit the song perfectly and he didn't overplay as paul crook and the like do.

Cry Over Me

Love this song and if it's a Desmond Child song (I don't have the booklet to hand) I'm willing to bet that there is a Bon Jovi demo of this song. The lyrics sound like someone trying to write a Jovi song!

I also picked up "bend but won't break" line somewhere else on the album!

Album is sounding very good so far, its a pitty that he had to take some songs and re-use them but they seem to be good tracks for the most part. I have 4 or 5 favourites so far, The Monster Is Loose, In The Land Of The Pig: The Butcher Is King, What About Love and Cry Over Me. Some good guitar work throughout, lovely piano as usual and great lyrics. Tickets went onsale for his Belfast gig yesterday so I'm gonna have to get some.
